Karen called this morning, and I got the apartment! Yippeeeee!! I am so excited that it almost overpowers the feeling of dread that is starting to creep in over our upcoming night dive. Karen gave me instructions for dropping off the first month's rent and security deposit, which I am happy to do. I'm so glad that I managed to save up a little extra in my rainy day fund, so that I am able to make this work.
My lease doesn't start until May 1st, but she said that I am free to start moving stuff in now if I want to. Wow, I have a really good feeling about this. Momentum seems to be building. Good things are starting to happen in my life. I'm putting The Secret to the test, and it is passing with flying colors.
We went to the cheap, comfort-food serving restaurant on US 1 for dinner tonight. King's is tiny and always packed, but it is worth the wait. It was just Marina, Frank, Jared, and I. We had invited the others, but most of them were working. Friday nights are busy in tourist areas like the Keys. Our days off end up being Tuesday and Wednesday or other mid-week days, so our 'weekends' are different than most of the world.
Anyway, since it was just the four of us, it almost felt like a double date. Jared was funny and even gently teased Frank over his cocky attitude. Frank didn't take it very well, but Marina and I both hooted with laughter. I thought Jared winked at me across the table once, but I wasn't positive. At the end of the evening, when we walked out to our cars, he gave me a sweet peck on the cheek. Now I'm quite sure it was, in fact, a wink. How sweet is that??
Marina and I are going to my new apartment tomorrow after work. (I love saying MY apartment!) She has a talented eye for colors and decorating, so she is going to help me find pretty (but inexpensive) curtains and linens.
I'm so excited that I don't know how I'm going to fall to sleep. Guess I had better try...
