No call from Mac yet, but what he managed to do today absolutely blew me away. He has been making sure that I have a fresh tea next to the time clock each day when I arrive for work. I must just barely miss seeing the delivery person because the tea always has plenty of ice and the cup isn't sweaty at all.
There is always a lavender sticky note with a short message scrawled on it right next to the cup. Monday's message said, 'Hi Gorgeous, I hope you have a Fern-tastic day!' Yes, he actually wrote 'Fern-tastic.' Yesterday's note was a silly knock-knock joke to make me smile, and it had a Hershey's Kiss sitting on top of it. I keep the notes and will treasure them always, but I already scarfed down the piece of chocolate. I'm sentimental, not crazy. Besides, chocolate quickly melts in our South Florida heat.
It's starting to drive my co-workers crazy as they wonder who is leaving these special surprises for me. I'm keeping my lips sealed about it, and they can't stand it. No one else has seen the person who delivers the tea either, which is very odd. Mac must have some sneaky employees.
Today is my day off, and I wondered if there was a tea waiting for me in the hut. I thought about calling my favorite co-worker, Cyndi, and telling her she could have it, but I wanted to see what today's note said. Besides, I was getting used to my daily glass of fruity tea. The sun tea that I brewed last week just wouldn't be the same.
I decided to take a drive up to the club to see if he had sent me anything today. I could do a final check of my mailbox, and it would give me a nice excuse to go for a little ride in the car. I wasn't at all expecting it, so I almost tripped over the sack in front of the door to my apartment.
I brought the bag inside to inspect its contents and was completely shocked. First, there was a big jug of my favorite tea. It was enough to quench my addiction for at least three or four days. After I calmed down a little at the thrill of that discovery, I pulled the pink bakery box out of the sack. Inside the box were some of the most delectable smelling pastries I've ever encountered. I ate a still-warm chocolate croissant that practically melted in my mouth before deciding that I should save some of the treats for little Maddie. She would be in heaven.
Today's note was in a sealed envelope, and my hands were shaking with anticipation as I ripped it open. Inside was a notecard with a dolphin on the front. The wonderful, handwritten message inside said, "Roses are red. Violets are blue. Ferns are normally green, but none compare to you. Okay, I'm not much of a poet, but I tried (for an embarrassingly long time). This card is a hint about our next date, if you'll do me the honor of going out with me again. –Mac"
I have read that amazing note over and over. It's impossibly sweet, and I'm dying to know what the hint is. Is he giving me a dolphin? LOL. Maybe it's something to do with plants or flowers? Honestly, I don't care what we do as long as I get to see him again.
I wonder if he really spent a long time trying to come up with that poem. No one has ever written anything like that for me before. He downplayed it, but I think they were some of the most wonderfully romantic words I have ever read. Okay, my opinion might have been influenced slightly by the fact that it was written about me, but I'm fairly sure I would have liked it anyway.
How did he know where I live? Did he come here or send a delivery person? How did he know it was my day off? When will our next date be? What did that cryptic hint mean? I have way more questions than answers, but I sure am happy. I think I'll go make a big glass of iced tea and dance.
