I am SO excited. The Vice President of Restaurants and Catering at the club called me today and offered me a job as an administrative assistant in his office. I gladly accepted, and I start on Monday!
I had almost given up on getting a transfer to an office job, since I hadn't heard anything about the application I submitted in April. It does seem like an awfully long time to go without hearing anything. Also, I wonder why I didn't have to interview for the job. The managers in the Food and Beverage office don't know anything about me. Shouldn't they have wanted to chat with me, rather than calling to hire me on the spot?
Does Mac have something to do with this? It seems odd that the day after I tell him that I need a new job, I am offered a job that I applied for months ago but hadn't heard anything about. He wouldn't have pulled strings to get me a better position at the club, would he? We barely know each other.
I want to believe that I got this job on my own merits, but the timing is rather suspicious. Whatever the case, I'm done straightening lounge chairs, dealing with wet, sandy towels, and working in the blazing hot Florida sun. This lady now has a cushy office job in the air conditioning, and I couldn't be happier about it.
I'm excited to tell Brent. He won't be happy that I'm moving on, but he deserves a little aggravation after that kids' camp fiasco.
