The drive to New Jersey was long and pretty much uneventful as Rivaille was sleeping the whole time. We left at approximately six ten in the evening. It's was quickly approaching midnight as my eyes fought to stay open. Each passing minute, my blinking lasted longer and longer. My glasses that I kept in the glove compartment that I wore for nighttime driving were resting comfortably on the bridge of my nose, though my eyesight was slowly getting blurrier as the assholes who had their high beams on drove towards me.

Pulling into a gas station, I looked to my right to see the raven sleeping soundly in the passenger seat, his bangs disheveled and hiding his eyes. Yawning, I opened my phone and looked for the nearest hotel. I quietly "hoorahed" when I found that there was a Hyatt an hour away. The hotel was nice, but an hour away. I quickly ran into the gas station to go to the bathroom and buy a Coke.

"That'll be $2.37," the cashier said with a dead expression, obviously hating life.

I handed them exact change, shaking my head. The northeast is so damn expensive. Rest in peace, Rivaille's and my wallet.

The drive to the hotel went quicker than expected, me booking a pair of rooms for the night. I groaned at the price, hating the northeast. Gas was a bitch and Rivaille hadn't been awake to offer financial aid.

The rooms were right next door to each other, connected by a door in between them. I held back tears as I planned my own demise.

"How many people will be rooming?" the lady at the desk asked.

"Just two," I gruffed, grabbing my debit card.

"Then why don't you just book one room? It's way cheaper."

"By how much?"

"One fifty."

"Sold."

I shook Rivaille awake. He stirred, opening one of his sleepy eyes. The bags that were there had faded tremendously, making me wonder why he hadn't been taking care of himself like he should have. Sleep was important, especially to someone like him who had professions that require a lot of brain power.

I watched Rivaille as he groggily stretched his arms above his head, soon jolting upright and knocking off the jacket I'd placed over his shoulders. "How long was I asleep?" He asked, now fully awake.

"Since about six thirty-five," I replied, scratching my head nervously, "I ummm... I only booked one room. Sorry. I forgot the price differences in America. There are two beds though and a couch bed I believe," I squeezed my eyes tightly shut, exhaling.

"Shit, I was asleep for a while." The raven muttered under his breath. "I don't mind about the room, by the way. If there are enough places to sleep, there's no real reason to complain. The hotel looks pretty clean either way." He stated, "We should go up to the room as soon as possible, anyway. You look shattered."

Rivaille made his way out of the car, slamming the door behind him with a gentle thud. Suddenly stopping, he turned to speak. "Oh, and thanks for the jacket, brat." He said with a smile.

I didn't know what it was, but his smiles always made me feel weird. It wasn't necessarily a good or bad weird, it just felt like he didn't actually smile that often, making me feel weird. I really couldn't find a better word for it.

Shaking it off, I replied to the older male, "No problem."

We made our way up to the room, taking the elevator. I bit my lip, tapping my foot. Claustrophobia may or may not have been something that I had. Either way, the elevator went much slower than I would've preferred.
