Rush's Book of Insanity: Part Three

UH HI I'M IN L O N D O N

actually right now i'm in Portchester but uh yeah

*claps hands* So! Why the hell am I on the other side of the world of where i'm supposed to be??

Here's the short version:

the tech program at my old elementary school is neato

we made a short animated movie, a collaboration with a school in Ireland

we did the animation, they did the voices for the characters

me nd my best friend wrote the script

now, almost a full year after it's been finished (i think??), that film has been nominated for an award at the FREAKING INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL yes in London

UH

YEAH

and this is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge deal, because it's not a professional film, it's just a goofy little Irish fairytale written by a pair of eighth graders and animated by other nutty middle-school kids

but yeah anyway, since i'm being homeschooled for highschool, when we found out that it was nominated for an AWARD (we found this out like mid-December i think), my mom's just like 'HEY RUSH YOU WANNA GO TO LONDON??"

and i'm just 'um what the hecc no thanks'

and she's just "COOL WE'RE GOIN TO LONDON AND YOU'RE REPRESENTING THE ENTIRE PROJECT'

and of course the tech teacher at my old school (i'll just call him Mr. K, he's g8 btw), was completely into it, mom immediately figured out travel stuff

and bam

i'm in London

at a freaking international film festival

representing the entirety of Project Spark Studio

i already had to do this interview thing about the project, and how it was to write it, and a little bit about how my creative process worked while writing the script, and i was PANICKING OUT OF MY MIND because EXPLAINING MYSELF and NOT SOUNDING CRAZY and OMF IF I SAY ANYHITNG WRONG-

but yeah apparently i did 'really good' but i swear you could see my hands shaking the entire time 

there's this fancy-ass award ceremony on Friday, where we'll find out if our movie won the animation award

it probably didn't, since, like i said, unprofessional film, but wow honestly it's a huge deal for us that it even got nominated

and when i say fancy

i mean

FANCY

THIS IS A FREAKING RED-CARPET EVENT

I HAVE TO WEAR A DRESS

but it's a rlly pretty dress so im ok

OH BUT THERE'S MORE

After we finished the collab film with the Irish school, a school here in England heard about it, and asked if we could do another collab film with them

and of course Mr K  was very enthusiastic about that, so guess who spent the last year writing and rewriting THAT script

*poses* YA GAL RUSH!

*coughs nervously*

yeah

i write movies now

did

did i never mention this

oh

Anyway, that movie is another little fantasy thing (it's about pirates), but we wanted it to have a kind-of historical base, so it's set at a real historical sight

Portchester Castle

wheeeeeeeeeeeeee

i've never been to a real-life castle before, it was SO COOL 

it kinda reminded me of my mental images of the Fallen Castle

but yeah uh

AND IT'S REALLY FREAKIN COLD HERE OMF

I NEED WARMTH?? Cali winters are tolerable, THIS IS NOT

And it took me a while to get over the jet lag

mom and i had a NINE-HOUR FLIGHT

OVERNIGHT

NOT ONE OF MY FAVORITE DAYS

luckily the trip home is during the day but uuuggghhh

we left Redding on sunday morning, then landed in London MONDAY morning

and i spent most of Tuesday asleep ahah

but man there is so much to see here!! i rode a train for the first time, to get from London to Portchester

the London Underground (the Tube) is uh a bit weird?? kinda confusing but i think i'll get used to it

London is ver picturesque, it's neat how there's these beautiful old buildings right next to modern skyscrapers

and there's construction like everywhere

and wow okay i am not good at interpreting accents

god

i don't like travelling  but yeah y'know i'm survivin

this is

a whole lot of new experiences

but i think i'm having fun?? idk lol

the french fries (they call them chips) here are excellent

mom and i already have too many inside jokes

she keeps saying 'disoriented' wrong

and i don't know how the word 'negotiated' turned into a joke but it did somehow so any time either of us says 'negotiated' we just kinda look at each other and burst out laughing

OH YEAH AND I'M GOIN TO STONEHENGE TOMORROW

im a lil excited about that haha

so

yeah

that's where i've been for the past few days

mom took a lot of pictures at the castle so i'll post some of those soon

it was really windy and cold (b/c the castle is RIGHT in front of the ocean) and i was dying but honestly it was soooooo cool and i'm definitely not goin back because COLD and WIND but whooooo it was rlly neat

oh and um

about the 'coma' thing, idk if i mentioned it here but i said something about it on DA

i swear i'm okay, i'll explain the full story if you want but i'm honestly all right so don't worry

my biggest problem rn is being C O N S T A N T L Y  C O L D 

oh yeah and happy Valentine's day

i was gonna draw a thing but gUESS WHO LEFT HER STYLUS AT HOME!!

i do have a oneshot to post soon tho
