Breathe, just breathe

I ran until I reached Marco's house, then pounded on his door. He opened it looking bewildered by my presence until I clung onto him.

"Maggie?" He questioned me as I clung to him.

"Marco, oh god," I gasped. I couldn't even form sentences. I felt like the walls were closing in on me, and the room was spinning. My stress level was through the roof.

"Jasper! Help!" he yelled as Jasper came running down the stairs and found me in a state. "She has a panic attack. Hold on to her while I get my bag." He took off up to his room while I grasped Marco's shirt.

Nash ran up and found us, "Mags!"

"Nash! Make it stop!" I was becoming hysterical to the point I started hyperventilating. Jasper returned shortly after and injected me with something; then everything went black.

I woke up a few minutes later, my eyelids flutter open, and I saw a bunch of faces staring me, startling me, "Ah!"

Nash grabbed me. "It's okay, Mags." I calmed down and took a deep breath. Then I fell backward onto the couch.

"Well, at least she isn't dead," Nixon commented, causing everyone to look at him. "What? You try explaining to ma why Nathan killed Maggie."

"I didn't kill her," Nathan countered.

"Not intentionally," Noah added.

"Maybe she shouldn't have been pounding on my door like a raging lunatic," he remarked.

Nash stood up and looked at his brother. "Shut up."

Nathan looked at him.

"I'm tired of your attitude. All you do is act like an ass, and enough is enough."

"Nash, that's not fair," Nathan replied to him.

"No, what's not fair is the fact you can't take the fact that you're so damn insecure you have to be nasty to people. Not even Nix is as nasty as you can be. Grow up," he snapped as he turned, leaning over as he helped me up. He walked me to the door as Nathan said, "Oh, I'm sorry we're not as perfect as you!"

Nash stopped and was about to charge Nathan when I stopped him. "Stop." Nash looked at me as I held his arm. "Please, Nash, don't do this."

He sighed. "Okay, Mags. Let's get you home." I nodded, and he helped me home.

Nixon looked at Nathan. "Dude, Maggie, just saved your ass. You need to get your temper under control because you know damn well. Nash has Dad's temper." He walked away.

I didn't want the boys fighting. I also didn't know what happened. That was something new, and I didn't know what was going on, but what I knew is it scared the hell out of me.

Once we got home, the girls met us at the door. They were worried just as much as everyone else was, but I just wanted to go to bed. It exhausted me.

Nash helped me upstairs, and I got ready for bed. I sat down and sighed.

"Mags?"

"Nash, I'm scared. I haven't felt like this since the last time."

He crouched down in front of me and looked at me. "Okay, tomorrow, we will go see the doctor." I nodded. I didn't want to be sick again; it was scary the first time. I didn't want to go through it the second time.

The next day Nash took me to the doctors. The doctor did a full examination of me and figured out what was happening with me. I was having issues with my blood pressure. The more stress I was under, the more my blood pressure would rise.

My blood pressure caused a panic attack. It was my body's way of compensating. He prescribed me medication to help and also ordered me to reduce my stress. Ha! Easier said than done.

We left the doctor's office, and I felt defeated once again.

"Mags," Nash stopped me. "Look, I know you feel down, but we'll get through this together." I looked at him, and he pulled me into a hug.

"Nash, I'm just tired of something always being wrong with me. I'm feeling useless," I mumbled into his chest.

"I know, baby girl, I know, but we're in this for the long haul. I promise." He assured me. That reassured me to a point, but we still had one issue to deal with, the wedding.

"What?" He looked at me questionably.

"Oh, nothing except we have to get through our senior year along with planning a wedding," I reminded him.

He looked at me. "I have an idea."

I gave him a look. What did he have planned?

"Are you freaking kidding me? Ma will kill you if you did this," Nixon exclaimed.

"That's why we will say nothing to anyone," Nash told him.

"Okay, but Grammy will kill you," Noah added.

"Not if you guys keep your trap shut."

The boys looked at each other. I sat there listening. How the hell do we get around this with someone not spills their guts? I mean, if it's one thing the Gray boys do well, they throw each other under the bus.

"Look, I'm just saying; we do this quietly, then let them have their day. That way, Maggie can relax and not stress," he explained to them.

"You know the minute someone finds out, and word gets back to them, our asses will be in a sling," Nathan added.

"Who will talk, anyway?" Nash asked them.

"Did you forget our loving family who would like to do nothing more than to sink us?" Nolan reminded him.

"That's a good point. So, we need to make sure our family doesn't find out anything," Nash added.

As they conspired, I sat there and thought about it; then it hit me. Even though Nash and I wanted to get married, the day wasn't about us. It was about a chance for people to celebrate with us. Even with the craziness that came with the family, I couldn't take away the opportunity for them to be there the first time, especially Pat. It wouldn't be fair to her.

"No," I said to them.

They stopped and looked at me.

"What?" Nash looked at me, bewildered.

I stood up and placed my hands on his. "We can't do this. Yeah, it will be less stressful, but Nash, your family, has done so much for me. I can't take the one thing from them and lie about it."

"You sure about this?" He questioned me.

"I'm positive. Look, yes it will be stressful, and yes, Nathan can be an ass," I looked at Nathan as he rolled his eyes, "but your mom, she means the world to me. I can't take away the one day, that means the most to her. Watching her firstborn marry."

I looked at all of them. "When each of you gets married, Pat will be there to hand you off to your wife. With each wedding, things will become a little sadder for her because she knows you will start a new life with someone else."

They all looked at me as Nixon said, "Have you met our ma?"

"Yes, what does that have to do with anything?"

"Maggie, no offense, but ma is just waiting to unload us on some poor unsuspecting girl. That way, she doesn't have to deal with us and our shenanigans," Noah added.

How is it, I try to make a beautiful speech, and they kill it with reality? Oh, that's right because they're the Gray Brothers.

"I say you guys do it. Get it over with now. We can have the wedding later," Nolan agreed with Nash.

Nash looked at me, and I looked at him. Do we want to do this?

The answer is yes, as we stood outside the city hall. I took a deep breath as we walked inside. With the brothers and me, we all walked inside to do the unthinkable. The question is, did we go through with it?
