Marco, Jasper, and Paul threw a back to a school party. We all went. Since most of us were with someone, we went with our significant others. Jaime was looking to hook up with someone dragging his brother along for the ride.
We all arrive and mingle. It glues Nash and me to each other the entire night. While the others were doing their own thing, Jaime and Jace hung with us. A couple of girls walked up.
"Cool party," one girl said to Jaime.
"Yeah, it's decent," he said casually.
"I'm Briana, and this is my sister Andi," she introduced them.
"I'm Jaime, and this is my brother Jace, cousin Nash and his fiancé Maggie," he introduced us.
"Nice to meet you," she said to us as she shook our hands.
We all started talking. Bri was a senior like us and graduating this spring. Her sister Andi was in town visiting her and checking out colleges.
"So, Jace, is it?" Andi asked him.
"Yeah," Jace answered her
"So, you're a senior, huh?"
"Yeah, I am," he replied, trying to act casual.
"That's cool," she smiled, he smiled back. Hmmm, it looks like Jace's smitten.
We all talked for a while, and then Jace and Jaime went dancing with Bri and Andi. They seem like nice girls.
Nash and I continued to talk for a while as the party got into full swing, then my phone went off. We went outside to find out what was going on. It turned out to be something about the wedding.
While we were outside talking, things got a great little inside, in the form of Andi kissing Jace. He pulled away. "Whoa," he said.
"What's wrong?" She asked him a little confused.
"Dancing is one thing, but nothing more," he advised her.
"Why?" She looked at him, perplexed.
He stopped and ran his hand through his hair, "Because you're seventeen and I'm twenty-three, that's why. Excuse me," he said to Andi as he walked away as she stood there feeling defeated. Jaime and Bri stopped dancing and talked to her.
"What did I wrong? I mean, he seems to be into me." She looked at them, hurt.
"It's not you. Jace is the guy that does the right thing," Jaime explained to her.
"Oh," she mumbled as she turned and walked away.
"Great," Bri sighed.
"What's going on?" Jaime asked her.
"Andi has a hard time with guys. She came here to get away from things going on at school, and Jace is the first guy to show a genuine interest in her," she explained. Jaime looked at her then at Andi as she walked away.
He turned to her. "My aunt and uncle are seven years apart. If they can make it, so can they."
"Huh?"
"Follow me, I got an idea," he suggested to her.
She nodded, and they went to find one brother. Nash and I stood on the porch when someone came flying past us, crying. Andi?
"Pat, can we call you back later," I said as I hung up.
"What was that about?" Nash asked me.
"I don't know, but it can't be good," I said, looking at him.
Then, Bri came out of the house without Jaime. "Did you see my sister come out here?"
