~Russells POV~
I watch as some of the Witches walk around the pack lands waving their wands around trying to figure out how to dispel the virus. Dax is shadowing his parents, trying to learn how to deal with the spell. It is apparently made by the same person who made the spell that attacked Jess yesterday. He is learning fast and is actually managing to take the spell apart much to his parents and Irelia's astonishment.
Despite the virus being crudely made like the spell yesterday, since only Dax worked on that spell, no one has hints to how it works like he does, but it's still a tough spell to crack. I've been told that it probably took the caster a few years to make.
I am proud of my mate. I have one hundred percent faith in Dax. He will figure out this virus and he will stop it.
"Russ?" Emma asks quietly breaking me from my thoughts as she walks up behind me.
"Yes?" I ask answering my Beta.
"I was wondering what we were going to do about Clovis and his obsession with destroying our pack?" She asks. I can tell as her tone changed that she is becoming very angry. Not angry at me; she is angry with Clovis. She is just as pissed off as I am but I don't show it.
My tone becomes hard and if Emma didn't know me she probably would have become unnerved. "We will destroy him and anyone who follows him blindly. Nothing will keep him from my wrath. Not even the council." Emma smiles at my words.
"That makes me feel a little better." I reach around and give her a reassuring hug.
"Dax and the other Witches will stop this virus and when everyone is back up to full strength, we'll descend on his packhouse and burn it to the ground," I growl out the last few words.
Relax and wait time is over. John and Emma have been training all who could fight, in the art of sword and gunplay. I have been watching Dax come into his Witchy abilities. Everyone knows a fight is coming, it can be felt in the air- the chill of a life and death fight.
"Fuck, I almost had it!" Dax rages. His eyes are those of his Wolfs with the silver ring of a Witch. I watch as he pulls in a massive amount of energy then focuses back onto the Wolf he is trying to cure.
I walk up to him and put my hand on his shoulder hoping he'll relax a little. "Take it easy, sweetheart. A calm mind works better than an angry one," I say as I begin to massage his shoulders. He visibly relaxes and though the link, I can feel him calming down. "I wish I could actually do more. I'm fucking useless," I admit to him.
I clearly struck a nerve in Dax, as I feel his anger return in full force but this time it is directed at me. He spins on his heels so fast it nearly makes me dizzy then he glares at me with such intensity that just his look alone makes me wine in submission.
"You are the Alpha!" He thunders. "Just being around helps every one of us! Don't you think that all we have fucking done-going to the deities and the witches-counts for something in the eyes of your pack?" He growls at me. "Going to a coven of Witches, unsure if they'd even help, without knowing for sure, was the riskiest thing you could have done, but without a second thought, you did it and brought them here to heal your pack!"
I begin to realize that I'm getting looks of pride from pack members. They know what we were doing and how dangerous it really could have been.
"There you go. Now you are realizing it aren't you," Dax says softly. "They are seeing you as the true leader that you are, one who will go to the ends of the earth for them. They have been treating me the same way as they have been you, and I haven't been here that long. Don't ever say bullshit like that to me again Russell Rayne!" Dax commands as he turns back around to focus on unbinding the spell.
