Saving Windfall (MXM)

Chapter Two: A Normal Day

~Daxera's POV~

"HEY DAX!" My overly loud friend calls to me, making me turn towards him. "There's a party being planned by some of our fellow nurses-in-training tomorrow night, and I wasn't sure if you had heard yet. I want you to come though, let loose, and get fucked up. Its also Saturday; tomorrow, so you don't have to worry about a hangover during school," he explains sounding pretty excited about it.

Charlie is a goof ball. He is taller then I am, with short blond hair and green eyes. He goes to the gym, which means he is more fit than I am, considering I don't go at all.

Charlie and I became friends a little after I came to this collage. I mostly just wanted to be alone but he quickly wormed his way into a friendship with me. I guess the dorms helped us become friends considering are neighbors with adorning doors for some reason.

"Sure, ya goober, I'll come to the party," I tell him, but before he can say anything, I continue, "you better not leave me this time to go off with some chick again. You know how I feel about parties." Truthfully, I just feel awkward at parties especially because I hardly know anyone here or feel comfortable enough to just dance.

"Yeah, I know. This time I won't. I learned from last time a party really isn't the best place to look for a date," Charlie confesses to me. I chuckle.

"Alright, let's go back and relax, I'm tired from today," I say to Charlie as I start to walk awkwardly along with him, since I have a boot on my right foot, keeping it safe from extra harm.

It was fractured when I saved Char from a basketball thrown at his face by a collage jock while he was laying in the grass, hanging out with me. Before it hit him in the head, I kicked it back at the jock pretty hard. Unfortunately, I missed him, but I at least kept Char safe.

"I've decided to make some chicken parmesan tonight, would you like to eat with me before you go to bed?" Charlie asks me.

"Sure, I'll make some tea and bring it over. That'll take about ten minuets," I reply. Charlie just nods. From then on we walk in a comfortable silence back to our rooms.

It's a calming evening though there are clouds threatening to drop its moisture on us from the dimly lit sky. I kinda wish it would rain, that would make the evening more calming. Lost in thought I didn't even realize we made it to the dorms which is why I suddenly trip over a rock half the size of my fist.

"Fuck, are you ok?" Charlie asks, catching me, keeping me from falling on my face.

"Yeah I'm good I was just thinking of how calming it is tonight. I guess I just got too deep into thought," I explain with a small laugh then walk to the elevator that was inside the lobby of the dorm building, then press the up button. "How was your day Char?" I ask remembering I didn't ask.

"Good actually. I think that it'll be fun shadowing a nurse at the hospital on Monday. Im quite excited!" Charlie says with a grin making me laugh. We step into the elevator and I press the button for the fourth floor.

"I am too actually, I am excited for its unpredictability," I reply just before the elevator dings and the doors open, then we walk out and into the hallway towards our rooms. "'Kay I'm going to take a shower, then I'll make the tea. If you don't mind just open your side of the adjourning doors and when I'm ready I'll come over," I tell Charlie as I unlock my door.

"Alright sounds good," He says as he does the same.

I walk into my room and close the door locking it. Sighing contently with how my day went, I put my school bag down on the counter then walk towards my bed room undressing myself. I toss my shirt into my laundry basket then pull my phone out of my pocket setting it onto the bed.
