~Russell's POV~
'Don't worry, I am almost there, darling,' Dax tells me. I nod, though he can't see me. I close my eyes, laying still, to try and rest but the silver is too painful.
"Aah, they are here now, thanks pup," Clovis says in a sickly sweet tone, startling me.
'Dax,' I say frantically. 'He knows you are coming-' the link is suddenly closed off.
"Too bad he didn't talk to you about his plan," he drawls. "Oh well though, its not like he can win. I plan on killing you right in front of him." His heartless laughter gives me chills as I try to ignore him. "I honestly doubt that Dax will even make it into the pack house. I have so many Wolves waiting to tear him and anyone with him, to shreds." More crazy laughter follows his false statement. There is no way they'll keep him from getting into the pack house, especially since he is a Witch, which they clearly won't expect.
"Dax will take you down, Clovis," I say in a raspy whisper due to lack of water. "You wont even know what hit you."
He growls at me. "You, your mate, and your pack are the ones going to die. You're all not even ready for what I'm about to hit you with," he says menacingly, with a chuckle.
"Why do you hate my pack so much Clovis?" I ask him with a cough. "It cant actually be that you hate our strength, or that you simply want to gloat about beating us is it?" I add remembering the conversation I had with Dante when I first met him.
"Well," he begins as he leans against the wall, "back when your father was flexing his muscles, so to speak, my mother was the leader of the pack that was here before this one. You should remember, the pack was called-"
"Morning Lake," we say at the same time. Morning Lake was the only Utah pack with a female Alpha. She had some loose hinges after her mate was killed by rogues one night. Sadly, some of the rogues were from Windfall.
"Yeah, I remember it, but she had started a ridiculous campaign against Windfall claiming we sent rogues after her family. Just because a few rogues from my pack was there doesn't mean we sent them," I defend.
"That may be true, but what followed after, is what I'm vengeful about," he says darkly. "Your pack came in, shredded Morning Lake apart, killed the Alpha, and the soon-to-be Alphas mate. My mate to be exact." I look at him with pity.
"I am sorry your mate was killed but that was war. If other countries wanted revenge for all the people that were killed in their previous wars, the world would forever be encompassed in it. Never. Ending. War. You can quit what you are doing right now. Release me, I can talk to Dax so he wont attack, and everything will be forgiven," I offer, with little expectation of him actually accepting.
Clovis only laughs before responding. "No, no. I have invested too much into my revenge. Don't mistake my simple conversation with you for a way out of this Russell. I still expect to kill you all in my revenge plan," he finishes with another laugh. I roll my eyes.
"That will be the only offer I or Dax will give you. Once you walk out, the offer no longer stands," I warn him.
"I can deal with that," he replies. "I expect that whatever is left of your pack, will be here in a little under an hour. Hey, Brad, take Russell to the throne room," he commands.
If I know Dax, and I do, I imagine it'll be slightly over thirty minutes until they get here, though, I don't know if Dax will attack right away.
Brad, I guess, comes into the holding cell and unchains me from the wall, then walks me out of the building. I look around seeing a forest made mostly of pine and aspen trees. The time of year makes everything a beautiful green color.
