Chapter Thirty-one: Emotions And Explosions

~Russell's POV~

Emma is helping me stand in order to watch Dax and Clovis' battle. Dax knocks Clovis to the ground with a surprise kick to the side of his face, then, as Clovis gets to his feet, he blasts Dax with black water, sending him backwards, sliding across the ground.

Dax stands up after a second and shakes his hands out like he's trying to shake off some jitters. Clovis thinks it's the perfect time to attack again, but before I can say anything to Dax, he sidesteps the water volley and fires a continuous blast of fire at Clovis from his right palm.

Of course, Clovis blocks it with his water no problem and returns the attack by sending a beam of black water straight at Dax who dodges it by shooting himself into the air, blasting fire from his hands and feet, using his wings for even greater control.

Clovis' water misses Dax by inches, then Clovis launches himself after Dax.

Shifting into his Wolf form in mid-flight, Dax's flaming angel wings dissipate and he drops to the ground then he runs around, dodging continuous water attacks from Clovis.

I am confused when Dax stops using his Magic after shifting to his Wolf from, until Clovis almost hits him, which makes Dax jump into the air, twist so he is facing Clovis, then out sprouts his fiery wings, keeping him in the air, catching Clovis off guard. Dax takes in a deep breath and blows his purple fire at him, giving him no time to react.

At this point everyone who is fighting their own fights has stopped to watch the two fight with their mouths hanging open. Only a few people knew Dax could use Magic in Wolf form and I doubt that anyone expected, or has ever seen, any Shifter do Magic in their Shifter forms before now.

By the end of all of this, one thing will be for sure: no one will ever mess with who ever comes out on top. If we win, no one will want to feel the fiery wrath of Dax, whereas if Clovis wins, no one will want to fight against an Alpha who took down a Wolf using Magic.

Goddess, I hope we win.

The purple flames slam into Clovis, pushing him down to the ground, making an indentation of his body in the earth. Dax drops to the ground and rockets forward, grabbing Clovis' arm in his mouth, flinging Clovis into the wall of another building, causing him to smash through it. Dax chases after him and continues to fight but I can't see what's happening in the building.

After about twenty seconds, a new hole in the wall is created by Dax, who comes to a stop after sliding in the grass, soaked. Standing up, he shakes as much of the waster as he can, out of his fur.

I notice his leg is injured because he is holding it up, trying not to put pressure on it while breathing hard.

This fight is taking a lot out of him.

'Anyone know where Lauren is?' Dax asks through the link. It is quiet for a few seconds 'till a Wolf speaks up through it. 'Tell her I need to ask her something and to access the link so no one can hear our conversation.'

'The link is compromised by Clovis. He is the one who stopped our conversation earlier,' I say to Dax.

'Not any more. He is to preoccupied to repair the spell he cast after Lauren dismantled it,' he replies as he barely shields himself from an energy blast Clovis shoots at him.

'Yes Dax?' Lauren asks.

'We want to know if there is a way to make our fire stronger? We don't think purple fire can beat his black water,' he says a little strained.
