"You guys made me a memory box. I love you both so much." He lent forward and kissed Doug then me.
"Daddy there's stuff in it. Open the box."
"There is? But we haven't even opened yet."
I moved one arm from Doug's body and took Chris's hand in mine. "Babe, you've been with this show since 2002, you've already made so many memories and we wanted to put some of those in." I squeezed his hand and let go, so he could open the box.
He opened it and pulled out the things, looking at each one in turn. By the time he was done, he had tears in his eyes and was crying lightly. He put the box to one side and gave us both a massive hug at the same time, his head resting against the side of my head, as we had Doug in between us.
"Thank you both so much. I love it so much. I love you both so much. Doug, you are the best kid I could ever have asked for. Mandy, you are the best girlfriend in the world and I love you so much. Thank you for helping Doug with this."
Doug had wrapped his little arms around Chris's body as I put mind over his shoulders. "I love you too babe, more than anything. It was all Doug's idea to do a box of memories and I got your mom to help with some of it, so the tickets from opening night, off Broadway, and I stole the very first script you showed me a few weeks ago." Chris moved his head from my shoulders and rested it on my forehead.
"Thank you for including V in it as well. I know you wouldn't be in this show or here right now if she hadn't have passed away. But I love you just as much as I ever loved her. You are both the most important women in my life and I'm so thankful both of you are part of my Heights memories."
"I couldn't not include her. She's probably one of the biggest memories you have of this show. It would be selfish of me to to include her. I know how important she was and still is to you. She's Doug's Mom and she always will be. She will hold a special place in my heart. What happened was tragic and upsetting. I was devastated when you told me, I just kept a strong face for you that day. Thank you for loving me the same as you loved her, that means a lot. She's so proud of you Christopher Jackson. So, so proud. Just as I am."
Chris didn't respond, instead he brought his hand to my neck, tilted his face and kissed me. I kissed back softly and slowly. It was one of our most calm and gentle kisses we had shared, it had a sentimental value. I felt Doug crawl out of my lap, though the little gap between Chris and my bodies. I opened my eyes to watch him, as I still kissed Chris.
"I love you daddy, I love you mama." He kissed both our our cheeks before walking off into the kitchen. Despite being only four and a half he had grown up so much in the last year since I came into his life. He was learning to read his own books and was able to copy pretty much anything Chris and I wrote down. His handwriting was huge but that's was expected from someone his age. I couldn't believe in September he'd be starting pre-K. I shuffled myself closer to Chris without ever separating our lips. I was tempted to stop to find out what Doug was doing, but I figured he'd be okay.
"Sit on my lap baby girl." He said against my lips. I climbed on his lap and wrapped my legs around his waist as I began to intensify the kisses. I loved it when he called me 'baby girl' it made me feel like I was his and he was mine. I knew I was probably too grown up for that pet name but I still liked it anyway, and it often meant that he wanted to get more passionate with me, which I was all for.
