32 - Getting Ready?

"Oh my god Chris. What did you make?" Lin said seeing the massive box he was carrying.

"You'll see Lin. Don't worry." Everyone was sat in a circle and by no surprise we were the last two there. Lin handed out his gifts first. He'd made us all personalised mixes, I looked at mine then at Chris's. "Really Lin, romantic songs to dance with Chris too and upbeat songs to dance with Mandy too. That's great!" I let out a small chuckle and Lin just smirked back at us. I gave Chris a kiss on the cheek and leant against his shoulder. His arm went around me and pulled my slightly closer. Karen got everyone chain necklaces that said 'In The Heights Squad' on them, they were the sort that the boys could wear as well as the girls. Janet had made these incredible graffiti hats for all of us in different colours. We all put them on and looked amazing. I then handed out my key rings and thankfully everyone loved them. There was a lot of noise as everyone got their keys out and attached the key ring at the same time. There were a few chuckles as people read out their quotes. Next was Chris. I helped him gather all the mugs and put them in front of everyone. Chris instructed them to all open them at the same time.

"Oh my gosh, Chris these are amazing." Andréa said admiring her mug.

"Now we don't have to fight over coffee mugs like we did at 37 Arts. We all have our own personalised one to match our character."

"These are so cool Chris. Thanks bro."

"Doug did the water-marbling part and I did the writing."

"Wow, that kid is so talented." Janet smiled.

"He sure is and it's no surprise when he has the best dad in the world." I smiled up at Chris, looking into his sparking eyes, as I leaned on his shoulder.

"And the best step-Mom ever." We gently kissed and smiled at one another when we pulled apart after only a few seconds.

"You two are the cutest. It's adorable." Janet squealed. Chris and I just giggled at each other. The rest of the gifts were handed out. We took photos together and went to get ready for the show.

"Okay back here at half past. Be in costume at least."

Chris took my hand and we ran up to my room together. "We still have have half an hour babe. Let just sit and chill together." He locked the door behind him.

"And by 'sit and chill', you mean make out." I said pulling him into the couch. Chris simply nodded. "Then come to me my sexy Benny."

"Of course my gorgeous Nina." He shuffled closer to me and I straddled him. He held his hands firmly on my waist, pulling me closer and I increased the pressure on our lips holding his neck. Our tongues slipped into each other's mouth as we made out on the couch in my dressing room. I was so happy that I had the couch and having the blanket made it even nicer. Before long I pulled back and jumped off him.

"Now go get changed or else we'll be late again."

"Yes mom." Chris whined and then laughed as he walked out. I then changed and chilled with Karen for a while. When we had to leave, I grabbed Chris and all three of us walked down.

We all gathered on stage around the stoop and a few people made speeches. Andy went first, then Tommy. And finally Jeffery, our producer gave a little speech. His final lines were, "It's commencement time, Lin, Quiara, you're done writing In The Heights. Now we give In The Heights to the world. And may it last and last and last." We call cheered, I stood on my tiptoes and gave Chris a kiss.

"Let's do this mi amor."

"It's now or never. Let's go." We all got off stage. I went and had my hair and makeup done and then read through the letters from my parents, from Chris and from Doug one last time before I was startled by Karen.

"Dreams come true bitches!" She yelled out of her dressing room. I opened the door and smiled at her.

"They sure as hell do." I yelled in response. Then Chris came out.

"Who's idea was it to put me on a corridor with these lunatics?" He yelled.

"I think you will find that's your own doing." I said walking up to him and running my hand through is hair, to fix it and make it look better.

"Well that was a mistake then." He kissed me once.

"You think you got it bad Chris, dealing with us? I have to listen to you guys making out every day." I giggled and walked back to Karen giving her a hug.

"You did say we could make out. You just said no sex."

"Yeah, yeah, well if you'd like to quieten down your make-outs, that would be much appreciated."

"I'll see what I can do hun." The places call came one and I took Karen's hand in mine and Chris's in the other. "Okay here we go. This is it. We can do this." We walked down to the wings together.
