33 - Performance?

"Break a leg Karen, you got this friend, I love you." I said as soon as we were down there. I knew she had a special routine once the show started to get herself ready for her entrance. The lights went dark and the show began Chris had his arms around me as we watched Lin from the wings. "Okay, I love you boo. I'll see you at the dispatch for our first song together. Break a leg babe." I gave him a peck on the lips.

"I love you too gorgeous. I'll see you then. Sing breathe like you've never sung it before. Break a leg as well. I love you so much." He gave me a quick hug and another kiss, before he had to run up to the fire escape, ready to go on for the first chorus. I walked around to stage left, as that's were I entered from after the song ended.

Breathe went perfectly and the whole of act one was practically flawless. There was a massive cheer as we kissed at the end of Blackout. We both rushed off stage and I kissed Chris again. "Act one down, we did it."

"Yeah we did. I'm so proud of you Mandy. And you look so attractive and sexy in this dress. I love you so much." He kissed me once again.

"You don't look too bad in this either. If this were you in our room at home, I'd rip it off you instantly." I smirked up at him, my hands resting on his chest.

"Well, Maybe I'll look even better in my suit tonight and then you can rip that off me after the party. And we can have a bit of fun together." He smirked back.

"I like the sound of that, but for now, let's go change mi amor." We went up to our dressing rooms and had 10 minutes to change out of our club outfits into our costumes for sunrise. This was by far my favourite song to sing with Chris, and I had a sneaking suspicion it was his favourite as well.

We began act two and there was a big cheer and 'ohhh' once I stepped out onto the fire escape with Chris. We ran through act two almost perfectly. Robin stumbled slightly as he heard the news on Benny and Nina being together. He completely tripped over the crate of Pepsi, but he didn't actually fall so it didn't look too bad. We sang the final "I'm home" then waited as the audience were on their feet. The lights went black and Chris whispered to me saying he wanted to reveal our relationship to the public during the bows and I responded with a nod as the lights came back up. I guessed he would kiss me, but I wasn't really sure. All the principles ran offstage leaving the ensemble onstage as they started the bows.

The female ensemble bowed first, then the Male ensemble, the Elesio, The Priagua guy. Then Robin and Pete bowed, followed by Andréa and Janet. Olga appeared from the stoop and bowed. Then was Pricilla and Carlos. Than Karen got her bow. She got a huge cheer. Chris and I came from opposite sides of the stage and held hands as we ran to the front. I did a little curtsy as Chris just kissed his fingers then held a peace sign to the audience, as he had done in all the previews. Except the only difference was afterwards, as he turned to me to take my hand again, he kissed me quickly. All the audience and cast cheered really loudly as Chris kissed me, it felt magical. I smiled at him as we walked back to our standing places.

Lastly Lin came out and the crowd was even louder, it was almost deafening. He bowed and we all walked forward and held hands in a long line. We took another bow all together, pointed to Alex in the pit as he referenced the band. We took one final bow and then dropped hands except Chris and I. He turned to me and smiled, I smiled back again struggling to take it all in. I'd never had an audience that had cheered so loud before, it was unbelievable. All I knew next was that Chris had kissed me again. I put my hand up to his neck kissing for a few seconds before pulling back. I leaned against him as Lin took the microphone and made a little speech. By the end of it we were all crying. We took one final bow then left the stage.
