(This is based before Sword of Summer)
Mallory's POV:
TJ, Halfborn, and I were on a quest in the Appalachian Mountains. Three whites had been troublesome lately. We hiked to where we were told the whites were, looking over a ridge we see their camp with three whites.
"Piece of cake," Halfborn muttered, I drew my knife and sword as my hall mates drew their weapons as well.
"Death!" I charged in,
"Blood!" Halfborn bellowed behind me,
"Charge!" TJ fixed his bayonet and ran towards the three whites.
There was a sound of dozen crashing footsteps from the other side of the ridge. I paused, twenty more whites crashed through the trees coming at us.
"Ambush!" I yell, regaining my posture I plunged into battle. I slashed and stabbed my way through the whites along with my shield brothers.
" Gunderson, heads up!" I shout as I throw my dagger at the white who had been coming behind the idiot. I retrieve it and continue fighting.
"Mallory look out!" I hear TJ yell.
I look behind me just in time to see a white, stick it's broad sword in my stomach.
Pain flew threw me, I heard shouts from TJ and Halfborn roar, as the world began to get fuzzy.
Halfborn's POV:
"Mallory, look out!" I hear TJ yell, glancing over I see a white plunge it's sword into Mal's stomach. Something snapped in me.
"No!" I roared, decapitating the white I had been battling I rush over to Mallory. "Jefferson, retreat!" I yell as I gather Mal in my arms, mindful of her wound.
We sprint down the mountain to our hotel issued van. TJ scrambles into the drivers seat, as I sit and cradle Mallory in the back.
"Come on Keen, pull it together, you can make it." I say, her beautiful eyes half closed. "Oaf, I'm fine." She mutters.
"I can't lose you Mallory Keen." I fight tears falling from my eyes. "No, I can't lose another hall mate," I'm choking on my words. "Too many, no more, I won't make it to Ragnarok without you."
I glance up at TJ, "we're losing her! TJ hurry! To Valhalla!"
"There's traffic ahead!" TJ exclaims, "no, not an option." I growl, throwing open the van door I run down the road to Valhalla.
"Gunderson, I'm not a rag doll." She says as her head slightly bounces from my running, I chuckle, tears finally rolling down my face. "Don't you dare leave me here with Jefferson." I say.
"One more block to go, Mallory." I choke, I've never ran faster but more carefully in my life.
"Idiot, let go." She says, her eyes blurring, blood everywhere.
"Never! I love you Mallory Keen." I finally break, two more buildings.
Yanking open the hotel doors, I burst into the lobby. Mallory had breathed her last breath, though I wasn't sure when. Did she die before we got here?
I make my way to her room and lay her in her bed. Then clasp to floor in the hall next to her door. After a while, TJ scrambles in. His eyes ask the daring question I'm not sure I want the answer to.
"I don't know, we can only wait." I say quietly, my face in my hands.
Mallory's POV:
I can see light through my closed eyelids, opening them I find myself in my room.
My memory comes rushing back, pulling up my night shirt to expose my stomach I see a faint scar. "Must have been a close call." I mutter. Scars only appeared if you come close to dying for sure.
I change into leggings and a sweatshirt, holstering my knives that were on the dresser. Walking out I see TJ and Halfborn sitting at the table looking solemn.
"Why the long faces idiots?" I say with a smirk on my face, "Mal!" TJ seems to come for a hug, backing up I place my hands in front of me. "Don't touch me, Jefferson." I warn.
"Yep it's her!" He gives me a quick hug and runs back to the table before I can stab him.
"Because I apparently almost died, I'll let you of the hook this time." I grab some food, then sit next to Halfborn, across from TJ, "don't expect it again." I say.
Halfborn hadn't said anything, he was looking down, I thought I could see a blush and tear stains on his face.
"How close was it?" I ask, "I don't remember much from the sword running through me." I say honestly.
Halfborn's head snapped up when I said this, relief, clear across face. "Nothing much happened." Halfborn replied.
TJ raised an eyebrow, "really, seems to me you-" TJ was cut off by Halfborn's death glare. "Carried her to whole way here when we got traffic." He finished though he seemed to have left something out that Halfborn didn't want him to mention.
"You carried me?" I ask skepticism in my words.
"Your light considering your big mouth." He said. I roll my eyes, and our conversation drifted to what I missed. I had been out for about a two days.
The whole conversation though TJ would raise his eyebrow and smirk at Halfborn, while Halfborn kept glancing at me, as if I was a ghost.A/N
