Chapter XI-Awake the stairs 'cause they're all around you

Adam's POV

I held my head in my hands as I continued to cry. A hand was placed on my shoulder and I felt her sit beside me. I looked at Miranda. She smiled weakly at me. I forced a smile.

"I just sent our, I mean, your daughter away. I shouldn't even be here. That's why I left in the first place."

She placed her arms around my neck,"Adam, you belong with us. We need each other."

I raised an eyebrow at her. "I do not like the way you said that last part, Miranda."

Her face went bright red. "Yeah but you knew what I meant."

I nodded my head and sighed heavily. I need to tell Sawyer what I've been meaning to tell her. Then Miranda kissed me. I deepened it. Slowly, my arms moved around her waist and I pulled her close. When I couldn't breath I pulled away. My face grew hot.

"I've missed that," I admitted.

She laughed then stood up. She brought out her phone and I saw her hand shake. I shot up and stood beside her. Miranda showed me and I chocked back a yell. It was a picture of Sawyer laying on the ground in a disgusting basement. Her face was bruised and her eyes showed fear. When I see Austin I'm gonna hurt him. Miranda grabbed my hand and dragged me downstairs, out the door and to the car. When we were in she turned it on and started driving. I jumped out of the car and she stopped. I told her what was on my mind and she turned the car off and got out. Miranda glared at me as we went back inside. We sat at the kitchen table with notebooks, pencils, and cups of coffee. Then we started making a game plan to rescue Sawyer.
