Adam's POV

I paced back and forth while in the hotel room. It's two in the morning and Daniel said they'd be here soon. Miranda sat up and looked at me I stopped pacing and sat down on the bed. I frowned.

"What if Daniel lied? What if he isn't bringing Michelle?" I wondered

"Adam, stop worrying and go to sleep please. I can't stand to see you like this," Miranda said softly as she kissed my cheek.

I nodded my head, laid down, and she turned out the light. I gave her a kiss then faced the wall. I sighed then fell asleep.

The next day

I woke up and didn't see Miranda beside me. I started freaking out. Where'd she go?! I shot to my feet and looked around. Then I looked out the window. Nothing. I quickly threw on clothes and went out. I raced down the hallway of the hotel and down the stairs two at a time. I reached the lobby and skidded to a halt. There were a bunch of people. My eyes scanned my surroundings. No luck. I made a strange noise that sounded like a dying seal and ran out of the hotel. My feet pounded against the concrete as I searched for Miranda. I turned right and ran into someone. I yelled and fell. The wind got knocked out of me and I sat there dazed. Then Miranda came into view. I smiled, shot to my feet, and hugged her.

"I....need....air," she whispered.

I let to of her and looked her in the eye. I was trying my best not to cry but it didn't work. She looked at me.

"Please leave a note next time you do that. I thought Austin had you," I said with tears rolling down my face.

Miranda played with my hair. "I'm sorry. I decided to go look for Michelle."

I couldn't think of anything to say. I reached up, got her to stop playing with my hair, and held her hand. Miranda lightly kissed me. I asked her if she had any luck. She told me that she got a call from Daniel saying that they're stuck in traffic in Indiana and they should be here early in the morning tomorrow. I frowned. Then Miranda yelled and pointed behind me. I spun around and saw Austin. Oh man. I turned back around and began pushing Miranda forward. Suddenly, all of us broke out into a run. We pushed passed pedestrians who screamed and moved out of the way. Out of no where, I heard a gun go off and the bullet whooshing past me. Adrenaline ran through me and I ran past Miranda. Then she passed me. I glanced behind me and saw Austin gaining. I knew I would be captured. My head whirled back around and I didn't see Miranda anywhere. I prayed that she was hiding. Then, another gun shot went off and the bullet hit my leg right at my knee. A yell escaped my mouth as I crashed through a random fruit stand in the middle of the sidewalk. I quickly glanced at my leg. It was bleeding like crazy. Then I got on my back and saw Austin in front of me. He was breathing heavily.

"Hello, mate," Austin said as he grabbed a wood plank and knocked me hard on the head.

My vision spun and I blacked out.
