When I finished telling mom I took a deep shaky breath. It was six am and the sun was rising. I needed to get a start on the day. I stood up and put on jeans, a tee shirt and a light jacket even though it's summer. I also packed my small backpack with light supplies. Like, a few snacks, a small flashlight, a empty water bottle, duck tape, and a pocket knife. Which I put that in my pocket. I shouldered my backpack and put on a ball cap. Then I went downstairs and had a pop-tart. As I finished, I gave mom a hug and put on tennis shoes. She told me to be safe and made me bring my pills and epipen. I put those in my pack and headed towards the door.

As I walked across the yard towards the road, my mind was wandering. I was in a 'what if' mood. Like: what if Adam never came? Would all of this had happened? Or what if I never went to the concert? Would I still be out searching for Adam? Or what if Dad wouldn't have left mom and I? Would I still be longing for a father figure in my life and to find out what he was up too? The answer: Maybe. None of this would have happened.I would not be looking for Adam to see if he was dead or alive. I prayed that he would be alive. And I wouldn't be on a wild goose chase searching for Dad and Adam at the same time. But I am.

An hour later I reached the river. I closed my eyes and imagined us being back in the river. What did I miss? I scanned my surroundings. The water moving around us, the current dragging us down, Adam shoving me to the surface. I grunted in frustration. Then I saw it. I imagined myself turning around and saw him pointing downstream. Then I surfaced. My eyes flew opened. I knew where he was. I sprinted following the stream down. I ran through mud, spiderwebs, thorns, branches and other stuff. The path was getting narrower. I saw a chasm up ahead and a vine. The chasm was small. I leapt, grabbed the vine, and swung across. My hands let go of the vine halfway across and I landed on the other side rolling. I got to my feet and continued running. Then I reached a waterfall.

I stood at the edge and peered down. I could see a path leading to the bottom on dry land. Hesitantly, I started my descent. As I went I saw smoke, a fire? Just as I was over the pond that the waterfall fed into the ground beneath my feet gave out. I screamed and started falling. Then out of no where a hand grabbed mine and pulled me up. The person who helped me was clad all in black. I bent down to tie my shoe and when I stood back up he was gone.

"Where'd he go?" I muttered to myself.

Then I continued walking back up the path and to the top near the waterfall. As I scanned my surroundings, my phone buzzed. I brought it out and read the text.

From:BlockedNumber To:Sawyer

Haha! Wrong way! Go back the way you came and make your way to town. Enjoy your hunt.

I screamed in rage and ran. I crossed the chasm, ran through mud, spiderwebs, thorns branches and other stuff. Then I reached the road. I turned left and raced down it. My feet seemed like they weren't touching the ground but I knew I was.

By noon I was hot, sweaty, exhausted, hungry, and needed a place to rest. I've been running for the past five hours. I stumbled into town and saw a Pizza Hut. Slowly, I made my way to it, went in, and ordered. A waitress led me to a table and I sat down. A heavy sigh escaped my mouth. She gave me water and I instantly filled my water bottle and she gave me another one and this time I drank it.

When my food came, I already had left. I had forgotten that I had snacks in my bag. As I wandered around town, I looked for clues that might show where Adam is and who the blocked number is. Then I got an idea. I went back into Pizza Hut and asked them to use their phone. When they asked why I said it was urgent. They let me use it and I called 911. A person answers and asked what was the matter. I took a deep breath and said

"I need to file a missing persons report. He was missing since yesterday. His name is Adam Randal Young. He is six foot two inches, has brown hair and brown eyes. Adam is twenty-seven years-"

"Yes ma'am we know who you are talking about. Someone else filed a report." She told me

I told her thanks and hung up. Then I bolted out and started screaming Adam's name. He has to be around here somewhere. I know it. I searched until dusk, didn't find anything, and found a hotel to stay in. I got a room and laid in bed. But instead of going to sleep. I stayed up and made a game plan for when I find Adam and backup plans and a plan of attack. I also made a list of possibilities on where he could be and how he would be treated. I needed to do three things.

1) find out where Adam is and save him.

2) figure out who keeps texting me.

3) find out who that man was who saved me.

But first things first. My goal: Find Adam.

Then I spent the rest of the night pouring over my plans. When I thought I was ready. I collapsed on the bed and closed my eyes.

"Adam, I'm coming after you," I whispered as I drifted off to sleep.
