"Michelle? Wake up please. In fact wake up now. This is urgent!" Dad exclaimed while shaking me.
Groggily, I opened my eyes and rubbed the sleep out of them. What's going on? Dad had a worried look on his face and Mom was beside him with two backpacks on her shoulders. A nurse came in and unhooked me and mom threw me jeans, a tee shirt, and tennis shoes. Dad went out and I changed. After that I was rushed out of the room and we ran down the hallway, the stairs, and out the front door of the hospital. I was confused. As we tore across the parking lot, a helicopter put a spotlight on us. We skidded to a halt and stared up shading our eyes with our arms. Dad laced his hand into mine. I glanced at him and he had a angry look on his face. Then the helicopter flew away. Strange. Dad made a strange noise in the back of his throat as we walked to the car. Mom was no where to be seen.
"Um Dad? Where's mom?" I asked as I spun around looking for her
He looked around as well.
"Miranda!!!" He yelled
"Mom?!" I shouted
We did that for twenty minuets then we went to the car with heavy hearts. When we reached it, she wasn't there. Where could she be? Dad ends up driving around town calling her name. After three hours of searching we went to the airport. I asked dad why we were going to the airport, he said that we are going to live in Minnesota from now on. I muttered a curse word and Dad stopped the car. He told me never to say what I just said again. I nodded my head and he continued driving. A few minuets later we reached the airport and he parked the car. We got out and got our belongings then we headed inside. The strange thing was, mom's wasn't there. I was getting sick to my stomach as we walked in. Dad and I turned right. We went to the checkin counter and got our tickets and put our bags away. Now all we have to wait.
As we walked to the chairs that were near the entrance for passengers to board the plane, I saw Mom talking with someone. I lightly tapped Dad's shoulder and he saw where I was pointing. He shot up and ran to her. Mom yelled then laughed. I averted my eyes when I saw them making out. Suddenly, a hand went over my mouth and I was jerked to my feet. I couldn't scream. I needed to get someone's attention. One person saw me in trouble and came to help. The guy who had me brought out a gun and shot her. Dad was running towards me. My eyes closed and I was ready to hear a gun shot but instead I heard the guy get punched in the face. The man's hand got off my mouth. I spun around and saw Dad fighting Austin. Oh brother. Then Dad looked at me with fear and sadness in his eyes.
"Michelle, go with your mother. I'll catch up with you soon," Dad ordered.
"What if I don't want to?" I protested
"I said go now! Please! I don't want either of you getting hurt!"
Then Austin hit Dad hard in the face. I cringed. I then spun around and sprinted towards mom. When I reached her, her eyes were filled with fear. Suddenly, everything went in slow motion. Us going through security. Dad getting thrown around like a rag doll. Me screaming as Austin brought out a knife. We passed security and mom started dragging me towards the plane. No! Hot tears poured down me face as we bordered the plane and left dad behind. I was still crying when the plane took off.
"Michelle, I know you're upset bit you will be safe in Minnesota. After all, we will have the group that toured with dad," mom pointed out.
"Yeah but we won't have him," I muttered as I stared out the window and watched Rhode Island disappear, "so bid the forest a floor goodbye as you race the wind and... take to the sky."
