LAFAYETTE CEMETERY

After about an hour or so, Klaus is sitting on a nearby tomb, holding the white oak stake while Nicole sat next to Elijah; still chanting a healing spell. Klaus looks at Nicole and watches her. He is scared for her. IS Esther forming a connection through magic to get to him? Why did she use Nicole? Or was Nicole just as powerful as Esther? Klaus put down the stake and tries to gather his composure.

Rebekah comes to suddenly. She looks around and realizes she's still alive. She gets up and walks towards Klaus. "You missed my heart." Rebekah says with shock in her voice and tears in her eyes. "Perhaps I did. Or, perhaps I never meant to kill you. Perhaps I just wanted you to feel a fraction the fear I felt when Father came for me." Klaus had tears in his eyes as well. He dare not look at Rebekah. "Do you yourself know the truth?" Rebekah asks with her tears threatening to spill. "I know this. You accuse me of being evil, and yet you are the one who conspired to kill your own blood." Klaus said calmly. "You made our lives a living hell. You tormented us." Rebekah's tears rolled down her cheeks as she confronted him. "I love my family; You, Nicole, Elijah. I loved all of you." He walks toward Rebekah and looks her in the eyes. "I know I can be difficult, but I did not make myself this way. It was Mikael who ruined me." Klaus said to her. Rebekah whispers quietly. "He ruined me, too. That's what you forget. Centuries later, each of us is broken. You with your anger and paranoia, me with my fear of abandonment. And poor Elijah." She says as she looks over at where he's laying.

Nicole trying to remove the pain of Papa Tunde's blade which is still stuck in his chest. "He dedicates himself to everyone but himself. We are the strongest creatures in the world, and yet, we are damaged beyond repair. We live without hope, but we will never die. We are the definition of 'cursed'. Always and forever." Rebekah finishes as more tears fall. Klaus walks over to Nicole and Elijah. Nicole sees him approaching. "Please take it out of him. I can't sit here and watch him suffer anymore." She said with a tear stained face. She looked up at Klaus and he saw the toll this had taken on her. She had used to much magic. She needed sleep. "Stand aside love." He said and helped her up off the ground. She stood behind him as he bent down and removed Papa Tunde's blade from Elijah's chest. Klaus put his hand on Elijah's shoulder to hold him down. All too quickly Klaus' hand was inside Elijah. Elijah let out a blood curdling scream. Nicole covered her ears and sobbed for him. He was in so much pain. Elijah let out a deep breath of relief. "Now we're even." Klaus said and walked away. Nicole stared at her father in disbelief. How could her father be the cruelest man she's ever known. She bent down to her uncle and held his hand.

Klaus went over and stands behind Rebekah in the cemetery. She hears him. "We're still trapped in here. Whatever you're going to do to me, do it now." She said looking like her mind is elsewhere. "You said our father ruined us. And I can't help but wonder, what if his father ruined him?" Klaus said and stands next to her. A strong gust of wind blows the gate to the cemetery open, indicating the spell has been broken. "The barrier is down." Klaus stares at the gate; avoiding all eye contact. Rebekah takes a deep breath. "I know you hate me, but what's done is done." Klaus cut her off. "What's done is never done. It remains within us, a story we tell ourselves so we know who we are." They continue to stand there. Klaus grits his teeth to stop the tears. "Vicious father, a bastard son and the sister who betrayed him. Perhaps it's time for a new story." Klaus said as he walks towards the gate. He turns back to Rebekah. "What is it you want, Rebekah?" He asks sincerely. "Same things that I've wanted since I was a child. I want a home. I want a family. I want someone to love me, and I want to live." She shudders the last words. Klaus looks at the ground and then back at her. "Then go." He says honestly. She looks at him with disbelief. "Go far away and never come back." Rebekah looks hurt. "We are far too damaged to remain together, less a family now than a volatile mix of ingredients. New Orleans will be mine. I will raise my child here in the city you took from me. No doubt, Elijah will choose to stay, but you? Sister, you are free." Rebekah is shocked. She takes one last look at her brother and leaves the cemetery. Klaus watches her walk away with tears in her eyes.
