MIKAELSON COMPOUND
Nicole hadn't really been herself since the night in cemetery. She was spending most of her time with Hayley, Cami or Marcel; trying to distract herself. She missed Jeremy more than anything and she very rarely heard from him. Finally she found something to make her happy again. She ran into the compound and up to her father's art room. Genevieve lays lazily on the couch in Klaus' art room, wearing just her lingerie, while Klaus gets dressed. "Dad!" She noticed Genevieve and her happiness faltered. "Yes Nicole?" Klaus asked whilst dressing. "Right. So I was getting coffee this morning and I found this really cute shop in the quarter." She says plopping herself onto one of the couches. "Yes and what about it?" Klaus asked obviously focused on something else. "Well I got a job in there!" Nicole was so excited because with Jeremy gone she was bored and lonely.
Klaus continued to do whatever he was focusing on; not even hearing his daughter. "You know Nicole, they say the passage of time will heal all wounds. But, the greater the loss, the deeper the cut, and the more difficult the process to become whole again. The pain may fade, but scars serve as a reminder of our suffering, and make the bearer all the more resolved never to be wounded again. So, as time moves along, we get lost in distractions. Act out in frustration. React with aggression. Give in to anger. And, all the while, we plot and plan as we wait to grow stronger, and before we know it, the time passes. We are healed. Ready to begin anew."
Nicole didn't understand what he was getting at. He continued to ignore her. She realized he was speaking to the other person in the room. Genevieve smirked. "Spoken like a man who's made peace with his demons." Genevieve said watching him closely. "My demons are dead, or chased off." Klaus said and still ignored her. Nicole noticed this, huffed in frustration and stomped out of his study. As Nicole stomped out she knocked into Elijah. Not even apologizing she just pushed past him. "Nicole?" He called after her. She threw up a hand behind her as if to say 'leave me alone.' Elijah saw her frustration and heard the whole conversation. He knew something was bothering Niklaus so he went into his study to confront him. Elijah enters the room and glares at Genevieve. "Yes, apart from the one lingering monster with whom you share a bed." He walks to her and holds out her heels in his hand. "I trust you can find your clothing and the door." Genevieve stands up, takes her heels from him, and leaves the room.
Elijah sighs in annoyance. "You do recall that woman tortured our sister?" Elijah asked annoyed. "She also revealed the truth about our sister's treachery." Klaus replied. "And as a consequence, Rebekah is gone forever." Elijah stated angrily. Klaus shrugs. "A desire which she apparently harbored for quite some time!" He raised his voice. "Niklaus, it has been a month. Now, I feel our sister's loss as deeply as you. But, you must stop distracting yourself with this ridiculous behavior and channel it into some kind of action." Elijah said quite aggravated. "Why must I, exactly?" Klaus asks grabs a paintbrush and returns to his art. "Because your daughter is suffering. She has lost Jeremy and Rebekah. She's trying to win your attention yet you continue to push her away. And over the course of Marcel's tenure, the city grew accustomed to having a king. You wanted this throne. Now, you must accept the responsibility that accompanies that before he takes it and your daughter as his queen." Elijah said trying to get a rise out of him. Klaus turned and glared. "Apologies, but I'm rather ensconced in other pursuits and Nicole would never choose Marcel over Jeremy." Elijah snatches the paintbrush from Klaus' hand. "If you can so easily neglect your home, I wonder what will become of your daughters. Have you forgotten what it was like to live beneath the threat of violence? We must work together, Niklaus. Let's make this city whole again." Elijah was growing angrier by the minute. "Perhaps it is too broken to mend." Klaus takes back his paintbrush and returns to his painting. "If you won't do anything, I will." Elijah said and stormed out of the art room.
