I didn't even need to look around to know who the fourth Warrior was. I padded up to my siblings and sat next to them. Shadefur padded up to us with a warm smile on his face.
"Your mother would be very proud." He purred.
I thought about her possibly watching this from StarClan.
"I'm sure she is." I meowed.
My family nodded, they had gotten the message. Somewhere up in StarClan, our mother was watching her kits become Warriors.
"Cloudpaw, please step forward." Timberstar called into the crowd.
She nodded and separated herself from the other cats. She stood alone, and looked small. But her pride shined through. The sun was now high in the sky. It shined on Couldpaw's pelt, turning her in to a shining pile of snow. Timberstar padded to the very edge of Fallen Log, staring ate the crowd and then Cloudpaw.
"Cloudpaw, you have shown yourself to be a strong and noble apprentice. From this day on, you will be known as Cloudbreeze. May StarClan approve of my choice and guid you." He meowed proudly.
They touched noses, and Cloudbreeze padded over to join us.
"Smokepaw, step forward." Timberstar called again.
Timberstar repeated the same ritual for my brother, who became Smokepelt.
Then he called my name.
"Flamepaw, please step forward." Called my leader.
I did so, but my paws were wobbly.
Why am I so nervous? I've wanted this my whole life! I wondered, but my stomach lurched and my legs felt numb.
I did my best to stand straight. I raised my head, and looked into the green eyes of Timberstar. He looked back at me, and smiled.
"Flamepaw, you have been through so much. You have looked death in the face, and you have experienced death of someone you loved. But no matter what StarClan threw at you, you kept moving forward. And now here we are, and I am proud to announce that from this day on, you will be known as Flamepelt. May StarClan approve of my choice and guide you." He meowed.
Suddenly, all my nervousness dissolved, I felt a new strength. The strength to handle anything that may come my way.
The strength of a Warrior.
"Wasppaw, please step forward." Timberstar called.
Wasppaw stepped forward, but there was and angry gleam in his eye. He didn't stop at the usual spot, but he kept going until he was face to face with Timberstar.
What is he doing! I wondered.
But Timberstar met him boldly, not intimidated by Wasppaw's little show. He stared into his eyes and did not look away. The Clan was silent with shock, I guessed that this was the first time that this had happened.
"What is it?" Timberstar asked with a snarl in the back of his voice.
Suddenly, clouds covered the sun that had been shining on the ceremony. Finally, Wasppaw spoke.
"I will take my Warrior name, but you just know, I am not serving you. I am serving my Clan. You accused me of something that I didn't do. Did you think that I forgot about that? Well, I didn't. I just wanted the chance for this little conversation to be entirely public. I would never hurt a fellow apprentice on purpose. I did not attack Cloudpaw. But you think I did." He hissed.
Then he turned around to face the crowd.
"I promise to serve my Clan, but I will make no promises about my leader." He yowled.
He padded to where he was supposed to stop, and sat down, glaring at Timberstar. Timberstar cleared his voice, but you could tell that he was bewildered by the past events.
"Then, Wasppaw, from this day on, you will be known as Waspclaw. May, may StarClan approve of my choice and guide you." Timberstar called, but not very pleasantly.
"Cloudbreeze, Smokepelt, Flamepelt, Waspclaw...!" Cheered the crowd.
Timberstar seemed to have finally recovered.
"You four will sit vigil tonight." He meowed boldly, glaring slightly at Waspclaw.
I didn't mind sitting vigil, this ceremony had left me speechless anyway.
