Calming down Matt was easy. As soon as I got his attention he abandoned the poor tree he was clawing at and came right to me, nestling his huge snout in my neck. After a few sniffs he changed back to his human form. We didn't say a word to each other at all. I didn't know what to say because I was afraid anything I say could set him off again.
Now, we were sitting in the conference room. Matt, Jason, Matt's parents, May and I and then suddenly, Alex walked in. Everyone looked at him in shock.
Wasn't he supposed to be somewhere crying?
"Alex what are you doing here?" Matt asked him what we were all thinking.
"Alpha, I would like to know the same thing" Alex took a seat. Everyone was confused.
"How do you feel?" I asked him.
"I feel normal. I don't even feel like I have a mate." Well that was weird. He was supposed to be falling apart.
"I think it's the spell Liv's under" May voiced her opinion.
"It's the spell" Lauren's voice confirmed as she walked in the room with Stephen following her. He was always with her like a lost puppy. It kind of reminded me of Jason and May.
"Smartass" I whispered to May.
"I did some research on spells that can possess you. Turns out when you're under the spell you only know what the one who puts the spell on you wants you to know. So that explains why Liv didn't know Alex was her mate" Lauren said as she took steps to a seat at the table. She was so confident in herself. Her aura was just... Perfect. I admired her so much.
"Also, with the spell on Liv, she's like a completely different person. Sooo, your wolf isn't going to feel anything for her when you're far away because it's like she doesn't exist. But when you can actually see her, your wolf understands that she's your mate." Lauren directed to Alex.
"That'll explain why he's not crying like a baby or running off to go find her." Jason joked and all was seen was a swift movement of May's hand hitting Jason right in the stomach.
"Can you break the spell?" Alex asked seemingly unaffected by everything said.
Everyone's eyes were now on Lauren anticipating her next words. Julie looked like she was about to cry again. Matt and Lucas, being Alpha and past Alpha, knew how to keep their emotions at bay.
"It's a very complicated spell she's under and it's a very complicated process for me to break it. If it doesn't go right, she could die and a whole lot of other things could happen too." Lauren answered sounding sympathetic.
"But you can do it?" Alex was quick to input.
"Well... Yeah but-"
"You will try" Julie stated. You could tell she really wanted to get her daughter back.
"I will try." Lauren's words held a silent promise in them. Promising a mother she could have the chance to see her daughter after six years. To be with her daughter again. I think I almost tear up a bit.
A silence then fell among us. Everyone dreading to go further in this discussion.
"Okay so to continue; Alex I need you to past the message on to the pack about Nathan. If anyone comes into contact with him they should bring him to me." Well everyone, except Matt, was dreading the conversation.
"Wait, Lilly could find him" Lauren interjected. I looked at her confused.
"How can Lilly find him?" Matt asked. Yeah, I want to know the same thing.
"Your magic. Like how you found Matt that day we were practicing." Oh right!
"What?" Matt asked now even more confused.
