"The Demon Lord has a witch working with him. We don't know the rank of the witch so we have to assume whatever we can do, they can do also. So with this barrier we can prevent them from invading the land and our thoughts and plans." Lauren explained while pointing her palms towards a target and then whispering her spell.

"Throw something at the target" She nudged her head in the direction of the cardboard cut-out.

I prepared myself and felt the surge of energy through me before the red ball came to my hands. I aimed and pushed the force away from me and to the target. As soon as the ball touched an invisible force, it disintegrated.

"That's amazing" May mused and I smiled in agreement.

"Okay now you try." Lauren told me "It will feel a bit weird but you could do it"

I stood there trying to figure out how to do this. Clearly the confusion was written on my face because Lauren then interjected,

"Just focus. The force you feel when you use your powers, try pushing that out towards the target" She explained.

I concentrated and felt the force rise within my body. I pushed it out and I could clearly see a bubble float towards the target enclosing it.

Even though I was finished I could still see the bubble around the cardboard. I looked at the target that Lauren put her shield over and there was nothing there. Weird.

"Do you see your shield?" Lauren asked.

"Yeah, it's like a bubble"

"Great that means you did it" She beamed. Oh, so not weird then.

"This is so exciting" She almost jumped in her spot. "Do you want to practice more or should we just try the whole barrier one time?"

"I wanna try the whole thing, I'm really tired."

"Yeah it's been a long day" May said taking a seat on the grass.

"Okay well sorry to say but this one is going to be a lot harder." Great news. I just hope I could actually do this.

"This one is obviously going to be a lot bigger. Do you know exactly where the pack territory starts?" Lauren asked. I shook my head no.

"If you allow me into your head I could help you. It'll be like reading your mind, except I'm not. I'll show you the area"

"Sounds good to me" I agreed.

I positioned myself, closed my eyes and envisioned the bubble. I slowly tried inching it away from me using my hands and then felt a hand on my shoulder. I ignored it and continued pushing the bubble away from me.

"You're gonna have to put more into this Lilly." Lauren's voice broke my concentration and I felt the bubble close in on me hitting me around my body.

"Ouch" I rubbed my head and opened my eyes seeing that there now was a little crowd gathered.

"Your mate has miles of land and your shield only reached a few feet." Well that was embarrassing.

"Come on Lils, you can do this" May cheered me on.

"Again" I told Lauren. I was determined to get this done. I had to be helpful somehow. I was already the reason why Nathan left and why the pack was in danger and as Luna now, I had to protect my pack.

~~~~~~~
"Again" I breathed.
"That's the eighth time you've said that" Jason reminded me. The crowds were now gone. Only Matt, Jason, May, Lauren, Stephen and Elijah remained.
"Maybe you should take a break now" Matt suggested sitting up and I shot him daggers "Or not" he raised his hands and sat back down. He was becoming more understanding about my bossiness.
"Lil-"
"I know I can do it!" I cut off Lauren and then felt the tension starting to rise.
"One more time" Matt emphasized on the 'one'. He and his Alpha ways.
"One more time" Lauren repeated, softly agreeing.
I got myself ready again, closed my eyes and felt Lauren's hand on my shoulder. I tried concentrating again on my task at hand and within no time I felt the shield move from the center of me and I pushed it straight out. It was going so far and so fast I needed to catch my breath but couldn't. I knew if I stopped to breathe I'll have to start all over again and it was already taking a lot from my body just to get this around the pack's territory.
"A little more again Lilly" I heard Lauren's voice and tried to push myself even more.
"She's bleeding" I could faintly hear Matt's voice. "Lauren stop this! She's bleeding!" I could imagine him shouting.
"Lilly!"
"There you go" Lauren said removing her hand from my shoulder and I gasped for air, opening my eyes and falling into Matt's arms.
My vision was blurred and there was a slight ringing in my ears.
"Are you okay?" I could hear May's voice.
I think I was nodding my head, I couldn't be completely sure. I felt so light-headed.
"I- I" I needed more oxygen in my lungs "Fi...ne"
"Did.." I wanted to know if I did it but it was hard to get words out.
"Don't speak." Plus Matt was being bossy. He wiped between my nose and lips. "Here, drink" He pushed a bottle to my lips. The cold water did feel nice against my throat and soon I found energy again.
"Did I do it?" I still had to catch my breath but I felt fine otherwise.
"That doesn't matter. I'm taking you to Doctor Davis." Matt ordered.
"But I feel fine" I stood up to show him I was fine.
"Blood was leaking down from your nose like an open pipe" He said gesturing to my bloody clothes and the ground where I was standing "So, if you don't mind I would like to hear Doctor Davis say you're fine" I could hear the strain in his voice. He was trying hard to not show his anger towards me at the moment but I could still hear it and nobody dared say anything against him.
~~~~~~~

"Yup, you're all good, just rest yourself well" Doctor Davis smiled at me "You can leave whenever you like Luna"

"Thank you" I told her and she bowed to us and then quickly scurried out the room. She definitely felt the tension between Matt and I.

I quietly came down the examination table and walked past Matt and out of the room. I dare not say a word to him as I walked out the infirmary and headed towards the children. I could feel him following me.

"Where are you going?" Matt asked.

"Luna!" I heard the child before I could see him. He ran to me and I stood down to hug him.

"Hello sweetie how are you feeling?" I looked at Elijah's face and scowled to myself. I still couldn't believe what happened.

"Alpha" Elijah bowed to Matt.

"Elijah" Matt replied ruffling the child's hair.

"I'm feeling much better Luna, it doesn't even hurt anymore." He seemed so proud that it didn't hurt, I couldn't help but laugh a little.

"How are you? Did you make the barrier?" Elijah questioned.

"She sure did" Lauren interrupted and I couldn't be happier by her words. At least I helped do something, right?
