As soon as we entered the conference room, all heads turned to look at me. Well this wasn't making things any better. I was struggling to understand, to control, to cope. 'Just breathe' I kept telling myself. But it was easier said than done. I was even struggling to breathe. And it didn't help that suddenly Matt was in a pissy mood too.

"How the hell is she a witch and we didn't know?!" He broke away from me to shout at the Witch Queen. Why did she look so unaffected by his shouting?

"Matthew calm down" Julie told her son. I thought he was happy I was a witch? He definitely looked happy in my room. Or did I just imagine that?

I walked towards him and placed my hand on his shoulder. He really needed to calm down. I don't think I want to see a werewolf transformation tonight. I could feel his body relax at my touch and then he held my hand, pulled out two chairs for us to sit and continued holding my hand. Guess it was just for him to relax. Everyone who was in the room gathered around the table, the Witch Queen sitting right opposite me.

"Your last name is Lane" she stated. That's important?

"It is" I confirmed, although I don't think it was needed.

"You're 20" I nodded my head, trying to understand how the hell this was significant.

"You don't know your parents" she stated again, looking closely at my reaction. How was this helping?

"I don't. They died when I was a baby" I replied trying to be monotonous.

"How'd they die?" Okay that did it.

"How is this important?" I asked rather rudely feeling a bit annoyed. Matt squeezed my hand, silently telling me to calm down. Oh so now he's the calm one.

"256 years ago, two of the most powerful witches alive met each other and in no time they realized that they were mates." Oh great, a story. Where on my face is it written that I want to hear a story right now?

"The male was the Witch King at the time and the female had no rank but had just as much power as the King. After they mated, the Moon Goddess appeared and told them that one of their two children would be blessed with both of their powers combined. The child would be a gift to our species and to the other species also. She would be the most powerful witch apart from the Moon Goddess herself." I still didn't know how any of this was related to me but I listened anyway trying to be polite.

"It was a joyous occasion. The King and Queen announced the news to their coven but little did they know a traitor lived among them. The traitor worked for a man named Norman, he was so much pure evil he got the nickname, The Demon Lord, and when he heard the news obviously all he saw was the power attached to this." A man known as the Demon Lord? WHAT?!

"A year later the King and Queen had their first child, a daughter. Because witches only turn after they're 20..." she paused, giving me time to process that little part

"... Norman waited 20 years then to confront the coven for the child. It was the brink of a war. He wanted the child at any cost, obviously. When he arrived though, he realized that this girl was not the one with the power. She had a lot of power but it wasn't like how the Moon Goddess described it to be. He was going to kill the girl but the parents begged, to the point where they promised to give their second child to him as soon as it was born. That's how they dodged that war." I was getting fed up. I wasn't seeing how this was relevant and this woman just kept on drawling.

"It's important, I promise you." Lauren said looking at my expression.

"Anyway, although the King and Queen promised to give their second child to the Demon Lord, they tried to stay away from each other. They almost killed themselves on many occasions because they didn't want to be together to have that second child. However, as you may know by now, no one can go against the Moon Goddess. So about 21 years ago the Queen got pregnant again. A week later the baby was born a war broke out. The Demon Lord had a whole army with him while the Witches, Vampires and Werewolves were fighting together to not let this child get into the wrong hands." Oh goodness.
