Four months. Yup, we have been living four months with a sword over our heads. Everybody knew a war was coming and the place was so tense even though everybody went along with their everyday routine. It was in the back of our heads that, a war was coming.
We knew that the Demon Lord wasn't going to kidnap me again because he knew I needed my mate to be strong. So, the only other option we think he had was to come here and get both Matt and myself.
He made sure we didn't forget he was coming too. Oh, yes. Just about a month ago the guys on patrol found a dead body with a note saying that they were coming soon. How they got through the barrier? I have no idea. Matt didn't let me go with him to see the body of Josh Johnson but he described it rather well after we fought. And I regretted it. I pictured it so perfectly in my mind I made myself throw up.
The burns on his wrist, his intestines spilling out of his lifeless body, the burns and gashes on his face making it unrecognizable. Oh God. I could picture Norman as the creature ruthlessly ripping Josh apart. How did we know who it was then? From Catherine Watson; his mate of almost five years. I think the whole country heard her screams. I was comforting her for the past few weeks though. She was strong, she didn't let the mate bond kill her, she was strong for her little 4 year old daughter.
Matt and I fought a lot too. Every little thing he did annoyed me. And yeah, I blame the hormones. I was five and a half months pregnant now. I was almost waddling and ready to pop. It was like being 8 months pregnant for a regular human. Dr Davis said we should be on high alert for the baby. We still didn't know what gender it was and that was because I didn't want to know what it was. I wanted it to be a surprise and after some convincing, Matt agreed.
We fought about that just like how we fought about him leaving bed too early, coming to bed too late, bursting a hole in our room wall to connect it to the baby's room, me going to look for a job and the list goes on. But we always came to a consensus at the end of the day. Turns out Lucas owns this huge company under a false name so that's where we get money from, so I didn't need to get a job, according to Matt. Plus Frederick said even though I dropped out of college he would still continue sending me money.
As for him leaving bed early and coming back late, I knew it was because he wanted to get everything in order before the Demon Lord decided to show up. He had so many plans I would say I had no idea how we could lose but I knew better.
The ultimate plan- to kill the Demon Lord.
Matt's plan was to have me as far away as possible from the clearing, just outside their land, where they planned to keep the fight. So when Lauren said she needed my help to break the spell on Liv, Matt was more than happy to leave me at the castle.
Alex plan was to get his mate. Lauren's plan was to break the spell.
And my plan?
My plan was to help break the spell on Liv and then sneak out to kill the Demon Lord. Simple. We all know I needed to be there. I was going to end up at the clearing anyway. There was a goddamn prophecy on it. The only problem- I had no idea how to kill the creature.
"Lilly what are you doing?!" I heard Matt's overly concerned voice as he entered the room. He rushed to my side and put both his hands on my waist, gently lifting me and placing me securely on the floor.
"Wait no. It was dirty" I whined trying to climb the ladder again.
"You're trying to clean the chandelier? Who cleans the chandelier?" he sounded so annoyed.
"Me. I clean the chandelier" I said trying to get past him again to continue.
He sighed. What? It looked so dirty. I don't think anyone ever cleaned that thing. And I had a baby on the way; the place had to be clean.
"Lils you're over five months pregnant. Why would you even think climbing to do something like that would be a good idea?" He ran his hand through his hair and I could almost see all the unpleasantly horrifying things he was thinking could happen if I fell.
"It was dirty Matt. If I don't do it, who's going to?" I tried to reason with him. I spent most of my time in this room so to occupy myself I mostly cleaned. And that chandelier was the last thing there was to clean.
"Okay okay" He sighed "I'll get someone to clean the chandelier and if not I promise to clean it myself before the baby comes" he put his hand on my oversized stomach and pecked my lips.
"But for now, your sister is coming and she says it's important" He took my hand and guided me out the room as I turned back to look at the half-cleaned chandelier.
I'll be back for you.

"So we know that he has a lot of help. What's the big deal?" I said not understanding really why everyone was looking so dispirited.
So now for some new information; every witch has a specific power, usually only one thing that they can do. It could be like having ice powers or being able to fly or being able to levitate stuff. Some could do more like control the weather and use the sun to make fire but only the high powered witches could do almost everything; like Lauren and myself.
As we know, Lauren is the Witch Queen and she lives with a coven of witches, which consists of almost all the witches, like, ever. And there's this one with the ability to see into the future. Sara was her name. It comes to her in the form of visions but if she knows about a specific situation she can see the future of it.
Lauren brought Sara here because she had a vision of the Demon Lord coming with a whole battalion. He had werewolves, witches, vampires, demons; everything. He had everything.
We were now in Matt's office. Matt, Jason, May, Alex, Lucas, Jason's dad, Lauren, Sara and I.
"Come on guys, we're not hearing anything we didn't know before" I tried again. They already look like we lost the fight what the hell?
"Where is she getting that optimism from?" Lucas groaned to Matt as he took a seat next to me.
"Do you think, now that you know a little more, you can see the outcome of this war?" I ignored Lucas and asked Sara. I would really like to know how this ends. Once my baby and Matt are fine I have no complaints. I absentmindedly put my hand on my stomach.
"No no no no no" Pause "No NO. Not at all. Do NOT do that"
Of course Matt had to ruin the party.
"Yeah I don't think that's a very good idea"
"Me either"
"Lils what's wrong with that brain of yours?"
"I don't like that idea too"
Okay everyone had to ruin the party then.
"Okay fine I get it-" and before I could continue I felt a nudge on my shoulder blade and turned around to see what it was. But to my surprise there was no one. I was sitting on the couch in Matt's office and it was jammed against the wall. Nobody could be behind me.
I frowned at how I was becoming a bit delusional.
"Is everything okay?" Matt was in front of me in less than a second.
"Yeah it's just tha-" I felt the nudge again and jumped up from the couch to make sure there was no one behind me.
"Is it the baby?" I started to feel a pain in my head and squeezed my eyes shut hoping it would go away. I was shaking my head to say no and to try to get rid of the pain.
"Lilly what is it?" Matt squeezed my shoulders to get me calm.
"I-I don't know..... It feels like... like someone is trying to... get it" I said twisting my face, really hoping the feeling would go away.
"It's the barrier. The barrier is hers so if they're trying to break it she'll feel it" Lauren explained and a silence fell among us. That only meant one thing.
"That means-" May started but couldn't finish. Jason wrapped his arms around her.
"They're here."
