But sometimes just being friends
Just isn't right
I hear in your voice a plight
Your feelings have grown despite...
The distance of an ocean
And a love left over from a long burning light
No, please do not put up a fight
We can feel it, we know it
Our loves in sight
If only our situation could change for the night

A/N:
So little nuances can make a dig difference. The second to last line had a typo, 'site' vs 'sight', but the word 'site' made me remember this a whole different way. Also, in the last line I had 'your' and realized that was a dishonest writing, whether intentional or not, truly it was an 'our' situation, and by adjusting to the word 'our' it strengthens the poem by making it more accountable and intimate.
