We have these walls
With stone and mortar
These defenses
We use to guard our borders
They keep us safe
And guard our soul
We use these walls
To keep us whole
And then, and then
We find another at our gates
Full of life and wielding Zen
They tempt our heart and challenge fate
They come to be a friend and then
...we have our walls
That hold them out
We have these walls
That protect what we are about
And yet, and yet
There just could be something more
Something that
Speaks to our core
Something that wields a promise
Something that we adore
Something that whispers to us
Something that knocks on loves door
Let us tear down these walls
And risk our hearts
To this thing that stubbornly crawls
And brings a fear we'll be torn apart
But it is nascent and beautiful
With the spark of a new start
Let us tear down these walls
That have kept us safe
Let us tear down these walls
And let in the other
Let us use those stones
And build together
A new place on a new foundation
A different structure
With a warmth and grace
A different fortification
From which we can chase
Those things that reinforce "I"
As well as shared dreams
That help our souls reach the sky
We have these walls
With stone and mortar
These defenses
We use to guard our borders
Now let us break them apart
And build together
For a growing and loving new start

Should we all be so lucky as to learn from our failures and apply it to our next opportunity.
