How Smart Can You Be?

You say just enough

To beg me to say more

You say so little

I cannot see the shore

I search for the hints

In each line that you speak

Fearing my own naivety

Will lead to a mistake

I tried to play a slow pace

One you fell in step with

I tried to play the blank face

One you did not believe in

I tried to bring you forward

And you split me wide open

I tried not to adore you

But you begged me to begin

You say just enough

To keep me coming on

You say it in a way

That makes me question reason

And each time I slow down

You seem to flick a spark

My words then catch fire

Leaving me typing in the dark

You say just enough that

I think just maybe

You say just enough that

I think just maybe

I can have something that,

That lingers beyond my reach

...tonight I hope you join me

Strolling a dream woven beach

A/N:

Let's here it for all the hopeless romantics out there.  I notice that the "Beach" is a recurring theme in many of my poems.  Where I live it is about an hour drive to the beach, and of course many of the places I have traveled are near the ocean.  I think the ocean just has so much meaning to us as humans, meaning and intrigue.  We cannot conquer it and yet it is a part of us with all that water and salt and (e)motion.

Enjoying the poetry - share it with a friend.

Cheers,

-DarthPadre
