I say I understand
When clearly I cannot
I say I understand
When I only know a fraction of your thought
I say I understand
When I am just hearing you
I say I understand
When hearing just won't do
I say I understand
When I take a moment to listen
I say I understand
And try to envision
But that is not for me
Not now, not yet, or perhaps ever
But I can tell thee
When I say I understand
What I mean
Is that I'm trying
