Chapter 46: I Want My Submissive Back

Gary's POV – Monday 28 March 2016

"Sent!" I exclaim with a sigh of relief once the email has left.

After a full morning debating with my father about a huge contract with our most important customer in the United States, a long conference call with Bruce, my second-in-command in Chicago, about the communications he had with said customer, more discussions with Campbell Senior and another call with the client, we have finally come up with a new proposal that should solve the problem. We have been their unique supplier for years, but it turns out that these guys have a big affair coming up and they decided to go for more tenders, consulting other suppliers than Campbell Electronics.

All in all, this is quite fair, but they were ready to go for cheaper products from one of our competitors and it was hard to make them understand that they should value our quality over our more expensive rates. It was even harder to convince my father that we should lower our margins by 5% in order not to lose them, which could be a disaster. However, I managed and I have spent the last hour redefining the terms, conditions and rates of the contract before I sent it to the customer. Now my fingers are crossed and hopefully they will accept our offer.

"Good! Well done, Gary!" my father replies as he stands up from behind his desk and joins me at the round meeting table.

"I guess we're done for now. We'll just have to wait and see," I say as I switch off my laptop.

"I'm sure they'll accept, I'm not worried. How is it going with Jeremy?" he then asks out of the blue.

It's not entirely out of the blue because that's a recurrent question of his, but I wasn't expecting it right now.

"Just great, Dad. He's getting better and better, but you already know that. You saw him not that long ago..." I reply a bit warily.

What am I supposed to think about the weird expression on his face? I feel like my old man has something on his mind...

"That's good. You've really done a great job throughout his healing and it's true he looks much more cheerful than a few months ago..." he trails off, pausing for a few seconds.

I don't even reply. I know he's about to say something and I'd rather wait for him to spill the beans than push him.

"Would you two consider moving back to Chicago? If Jeremy feels better, it..."

"Dad, I don't know."

"It would help the business if you were there... The company's activity has expanded so much over the last few months in America, Bruce sounds a bit swamped with work and I'm sure he would appreciate your presence over there..." my father lingers.

It's true that our company keeps growing on the American continents and I know how my second-in-command has been quite overwhelmed with a lot of trips and new contracts to deal with. As if it wasn't enough, there have been more customers like the one we just managed trying to renegotiate contracts while threatening us to go for other suppliers, which only adds more work for Bruce. He is really great and in the end, we have only lost two minor clients, which is peanuts compared to all the new ones we have gathered recently, but I can't deny that I have been asking a lot from my Number 2.

"I see your point, Dad. And I agree with you. However, Jeremy is my priority and we won't return to Chicago until he is ready," I reply firmly.

"I understand that, Son, and it's entirely to your credit. But if you could try and start pushing the idea into his head, it would be great," he insists awkwardly.
