LENA'S POV:

"Tell me Gretchen, did you try and shoot me. And don't give me any of your bullshit answers. The truth" I said as I sat 1meter across from her at a visiting table with Stef stood in the corner keeping eye on me while I spoke with Gretchen alone.

"Lena. I didn't shoot your fiancée, I promise you from the bottom of my heart, I would never ever hurt you physically In any way." She was almost convincing.

"Just emotionally then, you cheated on me with my bed friend. Are you sure you didn't shoot out of jealousy."

"I DIDN'T DO IT LENA!" She slammed her hands on the table with raging anger as Stef walked over checking on me. "Stef I didn't shoot you, I swear by it" she said as Stef rested her hand on my shoulder.

"I'm ok, really. I'll be done soon" I said as she turned back around leaving us alone. "Why have they arrested you then? Why are you in SAN Diego"

"I don't know and I've had a business call, I'm supposed to be going back to my girlfriend tomorrow. You've gotta yet me out of here...please" she was almost begging me and I could see in her eyes the desperation.

"Goodbye Gretchen" I said standing up as I walked over to Stef locking our fingers together and leaving.

Stef and I headed home after a long day picking up Chinese take out on the way. We sat in the car in silence until Stef broken it.

"Are you ok?" She asked resting her hand on my thigh as she steered the car with one hand.

"I don't know what to think. I don't know if Gretchen was capable of something like that" I said as I gazed out the window not making eye contact.

"She's been found guilty honey, sometimes the people you expect it least from are the people who catch you blind-sighted" Stef said in her soft soothing tone.

STEF'S POV:

I didn't know what to say to her, she was safe with me. I would protect her no matter what, no matter who from. I loved her with all my heart and she could relax now. Gretchen was behind bars and Lena was safe. She just needed to know that.

It was late so we finished our food and went to bed, we was exhausted.

"Lena... I love you" I said as I laid holding her tight in my arms as I seen her head rise and fall while she laid on my chest listening to my loved up heart beating.

"I love you too Stefanie" she said running her finger in a circular motion around my chest.

"And you're safe, you can relax and forget about everything" I said running my fingers up and down her smooth caramel skin.

"How can I forget about emerging. Gretchen tried shooting me, which actually shot you, she swears she didn't so I'll never know why. How can I just forget all this... I can't just sit back and pretend like nothing happened. It seems like the whole universe doesn't want us to be together, every step back we make makes us stronger but I can't keep having step backs, it hurts too much. And I love you. I just cant____" I was rambling and I knew it.

Stef rolled me over kissing my lips to stop me talking, I kissed her back opening my mouth practically asking for her to slide her tongue inside which she did. I roughed up her hair as we rolled around in bed kissing. She I sat up on top of her with legs either side of her body as I sat on her stomach resting my hands on her chest.

"The universe is not against us. I love you and nothing will change that. Nothing. Lena Adams. Soon the be Lena Adams-Foster. You are my universe. My world and my soul." I spoke truthfully.

I sat and watched her cry wiping away every tear flowing from her eyes with my thumb as I said these words. I pulled her back down kissing her as I held her watching her drift off to sleep.

I love her so freaking much it's unbelievable. She needs to move on from this accident and focus on us. We need to focus on our wedding. The wedding where she becomes mine and I promise my life to her.
