LENA's POV:

Today was the day, today was finally the day where my treatment begins and I start to have an IVF baby, obviously I wouldn't be able to make the baby like a normal couple would, they have to put sperm and my egg in a petri-dish and allow the process to happen. But I've been waiting so long and like I said; today was the day. Today was the 1st of June.

"Baby wake up" I say nudging Stef slightly allowing her to stir and finally wake up with a moan. "The appointment is in an hour" I reminded her.

She leaped out of bed and we started to get dressed. It took us a rushed 40 mins to get dressed, have a flannel wash in the sink, brush our teeth and quickly eat a round of toast. The timing was so rushed but we had 20 minutes to drive to the medical clinic which was the other side of town.

Driving 40mph through town we finally approach the medical centre, and we take a seat in the waiting room while flicking through IVF leaflets.

"You nervous?" Stef asks taking my hand into hers.

"I little. You?" I admit.

"Yes, mostly excited thought. We deserve this baby" she said into my eyes and before I had chance to reply my name was called by a clinic nurse.

We both entered the room and it was important we spoke about the procedure first and the positives and negatives of IVF fertilisation.

"So how will this work?" I ask.

"So we will test you and your DNA and we will find a sperm with had a suitable match. We will then place the egg and sperm in a laboratory dish where the sperm will fertilise the egg and place it back inside your uterus." She explains as she ran her finger over the printed pictures showing the process.

"Right ok, what if there is a sperm donation that consisted of blonde hair and blue/green eyes. So that the baby has a chance to get the possibility of looking like Stef?" I ask as I take her hand proving she is a part of this and this will be our baby.

"I can test both of you, and find which sperm matches Stef's genes. There could be a possibility that if we find a sperm donation that matches her genes the baby will inherit genes from you and some that look like Stef too, for example hair colour or eye colour." She explained.

"Right, so how do we get tested?" Stef asks curiously.

"Blood tests, I'll start with you Lena" she said as she told me to sit on the bed and roll my sleeve up as I did what was asked. She drained blood from my arm and stef was next and followed the same process.

"Thanks. When will this happen?" I asked. The sooner the better, I so desperately wanted this to be now, I was so tired of waiting.

"They will be sent to section B where we will test your blood and check the genes, then find a donor and then the egg should become fertilised fairly quickly considering you have taken your fertility medication and then the egg can be placed within you"

"Great. So roughly how long may that take?" Stef asks.

"Roughly around a week or two"

"Thank you" I reply as we leave.

I was slightly disappointed, I thought today was going the be the point where the egg becomes fertilised. But I guess not, I understood that they needed to run tests and check suitable genes, but I was so tired of waiting and I needed a little more luck in my life besides my wedding day. I've had so many step backs and this is a huge leap forward, something that will set us on track and steer us the way. There's no way anything can pull us back once I become a mother. Once we become mothers. I had been waiting for this too long and it will take much more than broken wounds and a threat of death to pull me back from this.

We headed home and this feeling was running through our blood, excitement. We was so ready for this we started to search for cribs and mobiles and pushchairs together. This didn't only feel like love between two wives, it felt like motherly love to our future child who was already apart of us. We felt it in our blood and in our heart.
