"Spirits of Air, Earth, Fire, and Sea
Converge together, set thy angel free
From my tongue, I send this rhyme
In hopes that my offering appeases time
Cast aside morals, see what is near
Make a quick judgment, bring death here

Steph jumped off her bed, grabbed a matchbox, various supplies, and shoved them into my arms. She walked over to a wall where a black tapestry hung with intricate red symbols embroidered on it. Her hand reached behind the fabric and rested on something, excited eyes looked to me with emotion emblazoned on them. "Welcome to the jungle baby", she twisted a knob and pushed open a door revealing a secret room attached to hers.
As I stepped in past her, my senses became fully aware of the power emanating from around us. With a flick of a match, she lit some candles and placed them on a table in front of us. As a warm glow filled the area, I absorbed the rest of the scene in front of me. It was a smaller sized room with red curtains, some small cabinets, and a gold antique looking lantern in the corner. In the center of the room, there was a circular table that had a small metal cauldron on top of it. Around the table, there were four black velvet wrapped chairs.
"You can sit if you'd like. I just need to get the rest of the supplies from my room. Oh, and you can drop the stuff in your arms on the table. We'll need them for later."
I made my way over to the table, unloaded my arms, and took a seat. Steph quickly came back, placed a few other items on the table that I assumed were essential for what we were about to do, and rushed back into the adjacent room. I could hear her muttering something to herself as well as the occasional loud thud.
"Where is it? Why is it whenever you really need something you can't find it, but when you're not looking for it its right there?"
THUD......THUD
"Uh, Steph, what exactly are you doing in there?"
"I'm looking for my spellbook. I feel like the damn thing has a mind of its own." I heard some shuffling, and a few more thuds followed. "Ah-ha! I don't remember putting it in my underwear drawer, but then again I don't have the best memory around." She stepped into the room and held out a big leather wrapped black book in front of her. "This is The Book of Shadows. Its pretty much the bible for us witchy folk."
She sat down across from me and gently placed the book on the table. As her hand fondly glided along the cover, she spoke up, "This book has been passed down through my family for generations. I only know of a few instances where my elders have used some of the more dangerous spells in it. It's very powerful and contains many curses, some worse than others." Steph fidgeted a little before quickly relaxing her posture when she noticed me looking at her.
This made me a little anxious. "There's something you're worried about telling me."
"I was hoping you wouldn't notice," Steph huffed out. As she pushed some hair behind her ears, she sat up straighter, interlaced her fingers in her lap and looked at me with ocean deep eyes. "The important thing to know about this book, is that it chooses the spells for you. While there are many curses and spells on these pages, some of them share similar purposes. How this works is that each spell is... let's say 'contracted to a spirit'. This means that depending on what the curse entails and the situation it's used for, a specific entity will be assigned to the task and make a pact with you. Now the part you need to know is this-" She took a deep breath and sighed, "Most curses are contracted with high-level Demons or similar beings of great power. The stronger or more wicked the curse; the stronger the Demon or entity is required to be."
