"Spirits of Air, Earth, Fire, and Sea
Converge together, set thy angel free
From my tongue, I send this rhyme
In hopes that my offering appeases time
Cast aside morals, see what is near
Make a quick judgment, bring death here

I quickly spun around, the hairs on my body now raised in awareness. I bunched my fists into balls as a foreign energy began coursing through my body. "Joe," I spat.
A sly grin spread across Joes face, his features looking more otherworldly than they had the last time I saw him. "Little dove."
I seethed, my eyes shooting daggers at the seemingly immortal bastard before me. "How dare you desecrate this place with your filth? You shouldn't be here."
He smirked, raising his hands in a casual shrug and said, "I'm only here to deliver a message." His voice was unnervingly calm. He pivoted his body, scanning the area around us. When his eyes landed on the wreckage behind him, a soft snicker escaped past his lips. "I'd say it's a shame but ... I never liked that old bitch anyways."
Before I could even begin to process how Death had suddenly disappeared before either Joe or myself noticed, rage. The emotion inside me began to roil and build with each passing second. "How many times..." I took a deep breath, barely able to contain the lid on the energy bottled inside me. "Must I kill you, before you're finally dead?!"
"Mia, Mia, Miaaaa," his voice trailed off, his body disappearing into mist right before my eyes. "You're breaking my heart. Don't bother denying it. You know you always enjoyed our little bonding sessions."
Though his words brought painful memories back up, I refused to let him control me anymore. I steeled my face and raised my balled hands up, and just as I had begun imagine it, now surrounding each fist we're black tendrils of smoke, slithering through the air.
His voice louder than before, "Has the bitch gotten powers in turn for selling her soul to the underworlds dirty dog?" A raspy laugh followed. "Doesn't matter. You were weak before and you will ALWAYS be weak."
His voice echoed off the trees all around me. "Mia, know your time here is coming to an end. I will get my revenge for what you did to me. He is coming for you."
The voices I had started becoming accustomed to, began to fill the air around me.
Look. See. Focus
I slowly examined the area around me, making sure to be alert to any noise, my eyes ready to catch even the slightest glimpse of movement. I steadied my breath and concentrated on the space surrounding my body when I suddenly felt the slightest shift in the atmosphere behind me.
Without thinking twice, I threw all my weight and energy into a right hook I was sending 180° behind me.
What I saw standing there, what my fist collided with, the six foot five, two-hundred something pound man was the last thing I expected. But my shock didn't end there, because the next to last thing I never expected to see, was Joe dangling from Deaths grasp three feet off the ground.
