"JAMAL NO, YOU'RE not holding it right!" Elijah sighs loudly, rubbing his hands down his face. A soft laugh escapes my lips which makes him look over at me. His exasperated expression immediately changes into a smile, causing me to drop my gaze to the ground. He's still into me. Fuck. "What you laughing bout Cami? Last I remember, you can't hold the ball either."

I roll my eyes, a light smile playing on my lips. "Fight me, Jones," I say nonchalantly, leaning against the cold silver railing.

His brown eyes light up and a mischievous light dances through them. He completely forgets about Jamal and walks over to me, jumping onto the ledge and leaning over the railing. My eyes widen in shock and I step back to put some space between us. "I'll do more than just fight you Martinez." He whispers, trailing a finger down my cheek. I gulp and turn my head, shifting my gaze to Jamal.

Jamal's back is to us and he's throwing footballs across the field. He's not even aware of what's happening behind him. I bring my eyes back to Elijah and force a smile onto my face. "Go help Jamal. That's why you're here." I mumble, tucking a piece of my hair behind my ear.

"A'ight." He sighs as he hops off the ledge. "I love you." He says over his shoulder, not glancing back to see my reaction.

"You can't just say that Elijah." I can hear my heartbeat in my ears. What the hell is he trying to do? "We're not together anymore."

He turns around, his plump lips forming a smile. He shoves his hands into the pockets of his shorts and shrugs his shoulders. "So? I just want you to know that."

"Elijah stop," I whisper shakily, finding it hard to breathe. Thankfully before he can respond, my phone starts ringing. I instantaneously pick it up, not wanting to talk to Elijah anymore. "Hello?" I answer, my voice still shaking.

"You okay mi amor? You sound nervous." Oscar's voice fills my ears and somehow calms down my nerves. I turn around and sit down on the concrete ground, resting my back against the railing. We haven't talked since the whole Elijah and I showing up together at my house thing.

"I'm okay. I'm just helping Jamal with football." I say as I pick at the rips on my blue jeans.

"I didn't know you could play." He chuckles, causing my lips to lift into a smile. But they almost immediately turn into a frown when I remember who I'm with.

"I-I can't. I'm just watching him throw the football around. Elijah's the one helping him." I mumble the truth, nervously chewing my bottom lip. My heart pounds against my chest, partially because of what he might say and partially because of what Elijah said.

After a few seconds of silence, he says, "Oh. You're with Elijah?" I shake my head but then realize he can't see me.

I force myself to say, "No I'm not technically with him-"

"You're with him." His tone is final, clearly stating that he doesn't want to fight with me on this.

"Yeah, I guess." I mumble, rubbing circles on my left temple with my fingers. "Oscar please don't be mad," I say hastily, almost pleading.

"What do you want me to say, Camilla?" He sighs into the phone, as guilt slowly fills my body. He called me Camilla. This can't end well. "I get it, you two have history. But from what I know, it ain't good. So I don't get why you're giving him another chance. Especially when you already have me. If this is your way of saying we should break up, then at least have the fucking decency of saying it to my face."

I inhale a shaky breath as I shut my eyes. Why do I always do this? "I'm not-" I abruptly stop talking. He's not going to believe me. He's done with me. I might've just ruined the best thing that ever happened to me. All because I want things to be okay with my first boyfriend. I clear my throat and begin again, "I'm not breaking up with you Oscar."

"I'm picking you up and then we'll talk." My heart drops and the air is knocked out of me. He's done with me. He's done. Everyone gets fed up of me. He hangs up and doesn't give me the chance to respond. Holy shit. What did I just do?

I let my phone fall onto my lap as I open my eyes. The sun seems brighter now than before, and I have to squint to see anything. I hop onto my feet and dust off my clothes and shove my phone into the back pocket of my jeans.

"Hey yo Cami!" I spin around and see Elijah and Jamal grinning at me, one of Elijah's arms wrapped around Jamal's shoulders. "He's getting better!"

I give him a weak smile in return. "That's awesome! I knew you could do it!" Jamal nods excitedly at my comment and goes right back to practicing.

"You a'ight?" Elijah calls out to me, causing Jamal to briefly glance over his shoulder.

I scoff and nod my head, forcing a fake smile onto my face. "Of course! Why wouldn't I be?" I say hastily, shoving my hands into my pockets.

Elijah narrows his eyes at me and shakes his head. "It's been four months and you still can't lie." He chuckles, briefly glancing at the ground before looking back up at me.

"Oscar's coming to pick me up." I blurt out hastily, the truth hitting him right in the face.

He raises an eyebrow, taking a few steps towards me. "Your boyfriend?" He asks, to which I nod my head. "Okay. Have fun I guess?"

His reaction has me at a loss for words. What happened to the old Elijah that would get insanely jealous, whenever I mentioned any guy? I slowly nod my head as my phone vibrates in my back pocket. I pull it out and see an 'I'm here' text from Oscar.

"I gotta go," I call out loudly so Jamal will hear me as well. He spins around with his lips turned down into a pout.

"Oscar?" Jamal asks, holding the football by his waist as he walks over to Elijah and me.

"Yeah," I say, smiling apologetically. "You're getting better. Just keep practicing. I'll see you later?"

"Yeah yeah, I got it from here. Go have sex with your boyfriend." Elijah says before Jamal has the chance to respond to my question. My eyes widen and I laugh awkwardly, before rushing away from them.
