Little!Tyler
Daddy!Josh

The little one whimpers, smushing his pillow over his ears. The thunder is loud, it's scary, and Tyler wishes it wouldn't ever storm during the night time. He wishes that it only stormed when the sun was out so he wouldn't be so scared. But unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

A flash of lightning fills the room, followed by a loud boom that rumbles the entire house. Tyler is shaking, crying, and whining. He's scared, he doesn't know how Josh hasn't woken up yet. He doesn't want to bother him. Josh needs to sleep, he spent all day taking care of Tyler.

But when another crack of thunder erupts, Tyler flinches so hard and yelps so loud Josh begins to stir. The little one clamps his mouth shut, not wanting to wake his daddy. Another rumble wakes Josh fully, and Tyler curses the sky for waking the sleeping king.

"Ty-baby," Josh groans, hoarse voice making said boy blush. "Are you alright?"

"Y-Yes, 'm okay, go b-back to sleep," Tyler lies. He doesn't want to bother Josh anymore, he does that all the time.

"Don't lie to me, petal," Josh warns, rolling over to face the small boy. He removes the pillow from Tyler's face, frowning upon seeing his wet cheeks. "C'mere."

Tyler doesn't want to, but another boom sends him clinging to Josh. "M s-sorry I wo-woke y-ya up, daddy."

"Shh, don't be, baby. It's okay. Daddy's got you. I got you. I won't let anything hurt you, ever. I'll protect you from the storm."

Tyler whines, nuzzling his nose into Josh's side. He loves having such a strong daddy that makes him feel so safe. Being smushed between Josh's big arms and hearing his comforting words makes Tyler almost forget it's even storming.

"M love you's dada."

Josh smiles sleepily, his eyes shutting as he kisses the little's forehead. "I love you too, petal. You want daddy to put in a movie?"

"Mhm, yes pwease," Tyler mumbles, unintentionally slipping farther in little space. He can't control it, Josh just makes him feel so small.

"Which movie?"

"Mmm, uhhh... Mad'gascar!" Tyler exclaims, clinging to his daddy. He doesn't want to let go, he's still a little scared.

"You gotta let me up then, baby."

"Nuh-uh."

"Then I'll take you with me."

A squeal erupts from the brunette as Josh rolls off the bed and brings him with. He's held like a toddler, hiding his face in Josh's neck as the storm rages on.

"Dada?"

"What, petal?"

"Sippy?"

Josh smiles, putting in the Madagascar DVD to let the previews play. "Of course, you want juice?"

"Uh-uh."

"Milk?"

"Uh-uh."

"What do you want, cutie?" Josh chuckles, holding the boy on his hip as he carries him downstairs.

"Choc'ate milk!" Tyler says, scanning the fridge as Josh opens it.

"No, not right now. We need to go to sleep and chocolate won't help with that. How about regular milk?"

"Choc'ate milk?" Tyler tries again, making grabby hands at the cupboard where he knew the chocolate powder was.

"I said no. Do you want warm or cold milk?"

"Choc'ate."

Josh sighs. He's tired, and he can tell Tyler is too. "Tyler, I said no. Warm or cold? And if you say chocolate you aren't getting anything."

Tyler huffs, dropping his head to rest on Josh's shoulder. "Cold. Warm's yucky."

Josh kisses the top of his head and grabs the milk jug, half-way filling Tyler's Lion King sippy cup. He hands the cup over and carries the brunette upstairs, who is happily gulping the drink down.

It's still pouring, and the thunder is unwavering, but Tyler doesn't feel so scared anymore. He's happy, cuddling into Josh and drinking his milk and watching Madagascar.

Josh won't fall back asleep until Tyler does, they both know this. The little drinks his milk quickly, wanting to finish it all before his eyelids start feeling heavy.

"You're gonna have to go potty, baby," Josh says, kneading his fingers through Tyler's messy hair. The latter shakes his head stubbornly, refusing to believe he already has to use the bathroom. He's so comfy, he doesn't want to get up.

"Do you have to go, Ty?"

"Uh-uh."

"Are you sure?"

Tyler hesitates, giving Josh a look as he finishes every last drop in his sippy. "Now I gotsta."

Josh can't help but smile, his baby is so cute. The two get out of bed again, and Josh accompanies his little to the bathroom. He stands outside the door, giving Tyler his space. There's a sudden thud, making Josh jump.

"Ty-baby? Everything okay?"

"Uh-huh, daddy! Just a sec!"

Tyler opens the door seconds later, showing off the Paw Patrol bandaid on his bicep. "My awm hurt, daddy, so I's put Chase on it!"

Josh eyes the dog on the bandaid with a chuckle, leading the little one back to their bedroom. "Okay, cutie. Feeling sleepy yet?"

"Nuh-uh."

They climb into bed, Tyler curling into his daddy's side and placing his thumb between his lips. He isn't supposed to suck on his thumb, but doesn't want to bother Josh again and ask for a pacifier.

Josh must see out of the corner of his eye, because he pulls the finger out of Tyler's mouth. "Want me to get you a paci?"

Tyler shakes his head, stubbornly. He just wants to cuddle.

"Yes you do. Which one?"

"Don' matta."

Josh retrieves a simple pink pacifier and places it between Tyler's lips, kissing the tip of his nose. "There you go, petal. Anything else?"

"Mh-mh," Tyler shakes his head, his eyelids growing heavier by the second.

"I love you, cutie. Get some sleep. I won't let anything happen to you, promise. You're always safe with me."

Tyler doesn't respond, Josh figures he's too caught up in the movie. But with one glance, he sees the boy's eyelashes resting against his cheekbones and the pacifier hanging out of his partially opened mouth.

Josh coos, his boyfriend is so unbelievably precious. He could stare at the sleeping little for so long, and he would if it weren't for the sudden weight on his eyes.

Thunder rumbles, Tyler stirs. The older pulls him closer and presses a kiss to his temple as he lets his eyes fall shut.
