Nico

"Why'd you drag me away like that?" I scowled. We were walking pretty openly even though everyone in camp, hopefully, was sleeping. Even if it was morning, however, people would've probably tried to avoid me at all cost. You see, being the king of ghost makes everyone pretty much scared of you. Ares kids hated to admit it, but I could feel the fear radiating from them as they saw me walk past. It was a curse and a blessing. I only knew of a handful of people that wouldn't run when they saw me and Dominique may have just joined them. Will was definitely one of them.

"That girl had a weird aura about her." Will sighed as we turned into where the cabins were. "And besides, you two were just staring at each other half the time, sunshine. It was awkward."

"I wasn't aware awkward was a synonym for jealous." I said under my breath. "And I've got a weird aura around me too!"

Even though, that's gross because we are siblings, I thought.

"You're my boyfriend; it's my duty to be jealous." He kissed me on the forehead and turned towards his cabin. "Goodnight!"

"Don't let the bed bugs consume you slowly in your sleep." I told him.

He stared at me, his one eyebrow raising up in confusion. For gods sake! Boys raising an eyebrow should've been illegal.

"You're a sick human being." He pointed out.

Shaking his head but smiling, he walked off towards his cabin. I could see him silently praying that no one was awake.

Right when Will was gone,  I needed to jump into action. I merged into the shadows and ran as fast as I could back to the beach. On getting there I, couldn't find her, so I started looking around for her whilst calling her name.

"Dominique!" I whisper shouted. The palm tree trap had been reset, so she had to near. Now that I thought about it, the circle of rope leading up to the tree was obvious.

Gods, Will's dumb, I thought, shaking my head.

"I would agree but I don't know him like that." Dominique stated, coming out of the shadows.

I acknowledged her presence by grabbing her by the hand.

"We need to go right now. I'll explain where we're going when we get there." I started to pull her. "Just trust me."

But Dominique stayed rooted on the spot.

"Nico, I can't." She told me, taking me to the pier. "I don't belong at camp. They made that obvious." She looked at her feet.

Scared?

"Yes."

I could practically feel her eyes rolling.

"Trust me, it's better than living rough. I should know." We sat down on the sand. "It will be better and easier for the both of us. We'll get to know each other and have somewhere to stay. I may not look like I have a heart but, trust me, there is something there and I cannot bear to have anyone, especially my sister, living underneath a pier."

I squeezed her hand at the mention of sister and her fear started to decrease.

"I've been here since I was eight. That's almost seven years," She whispered. "I don't know anything outside this life."

Then come with me and we'll learn. Together.

She looked as if she was contemplating it but eventually nodded slowly, whilst raising two fingers towards the pier.

"What the Gods are you-"

I yelped as a small bag and her curved sickle flew past me, skimming my ear.

"I should wish death upon you." I murmured getting up and merging back into the shadows. "Just follow me and be quiet."

× × ×

"I don't really remember my mum," she told me, walking into camp with me, "I just know that I'm Dominique Baptiste. Half Greek, half Trinidadian."

I found out that she was only 3 months younger than me, and that she had a shower last time she was in camp 7 years ago.

She didn't tell me the last one, I'd kinda figured.

We got to the sand dunes, which over- looked the entirety of Camp Half Blood.

"This is where we'll be staying from now on," I stated, gazing at the numerous cabins before looking at Dominique, who looked stunned. "It's alright, you'll get used to it. I did."

Dominique's eyes sparkled as she returned my gaze, she looked as if she was going to cry but realised her guard had been let down. She quickly wiped her tear and smirked.

Wimp! I thought. I forgot she could hear me.

"Yeah, whatever," She laughed with a glint in her eye. "Race ya!" She flew down the dunes, leaving me behind.

"Wait up!" I wanted to shout, before remembering that camp was asleep. I have no idea how she'd managed it but she was waiting for me in front of Cabin 13, Hades' Cabin, when I got to her. Two Hades kids must've scared off the Harpies as they didn't even touch us.

"Hades has a cabin." she whispered turning back to me with the previous glint in her eyes. I didn't know whether it was me but her eyes went from practically black to dark blue.

"Yeah. You're sharing with me, roomie."

I pushed the door open to reveal the usually messy cabin, decorated with black t- shirts all over the floor. There were also multiple coffin shaped beds. I guess one belonged to Dominique now. Of course, there was the shrine made from bones in the corner too. I turned back to her just standing in the open door way.

An Aphrodite kid walked pass, behind her, gawking at Dominique. I glared at him whilst signalling for him to 'shut it or die.' His blue eyes widened but he squirmed back to where he'd come from. Why was he awake? Don't ask me.

Dorkazoid.

"I'm gonna have a shower." She stated whilst closing the door and stalking pass me. She, like me, was tiny, around 3 inches shorter than me. Finally, I could look down on someone. Even though I technically already do that.

She continued. "A little dark angel told me I smell like death. Do you have a top I can borrow?" She gestured at the floor.

All my t-shirts would've been way too small for her, as I was even skinnier than a homeless kid. Well done Nico. I threw one of Will's yellow hoodies that he'd left here at her. She was shorter than me and I was shorter than Will, and we were both considerably skinnier than him. So, if Will's hoodie was basically a dress on me, it should have the same effect on Dominique.

Dominique entered the bathroom, looking back at me.

'Thanks, angel.'

"Don't call me angel, Nique!" I shouted back at her.

"Who's Nique?" Will asked, swinging through the window.
