Navigating a forest in the middle of Indonesia with a confused Frank, a moody Piper, an untrustworthy Mata and a bubbly Hazel, leading you to God's knows where is honestly not the ideal time or place for your mind to be absolutely fucked.
Here's how last night went down:
Yesterday night, Piper, Mata and I shared a room. But, to be honest, I might as well just have been Mata and I, in the room as Piper drifted to sleep almost immediately.
Brilliant.
I mean, I couldn't blame her. I would expect her to be tired as a result of shadow travelling then being burnt on the ass by a magical fire cracker.
Anyway, Piper slept on a mat at the foot of Mata's small bed, leaving Mata and I to share in a confined space. Travelling half my life before ending up in Camp Jupiter caused me to not be too fussed with sleeping with someone, and the Mata girl wasn't an exception. It was just I didn't want her to, you know, strangle me in my sleep.
If you haven't gathered yet, I do not trust Mata. At all.
But, no amount of training could have prepared me for what happened next.
I didn't want to waste an entire outfit on sleeping, so I took off my jeans and pulled my t-shirt as far down as it would go, before hopping into Mata's bed.
"Someone's eager." Piper teased from the ground. I could practically hear her smirking.
To shut her Aphrodite mouth up, I threw my pillow at her, using the remaining six on the bed to form a barrier between my side of Mata's bed and her's. I leaned over to see Piper smiling, her brown hair pinned in a messy bun, her white pj's blending into the pillow she was clasping tightly towards her chest.
"Jokes on you!" Piper laughed, "I needed a pillow anyway."
I was very tempted to throw something harder at her, but didn't have to chance to as Mata strolled into the room.
Her simple summer dress was replaced with equally simple pyjamas bottoms and a vest top. The contrast of her attire and skin made her seem to glow more, and I scowled at her as a result. She didn't even bat an eye at my direction.
"Lights out, guys. We've got a long day ahead of us tomorrow." she stated, flicking the light switches and jumping into bed beside me. Piper mumbled a goodnight as she went back to sleep, me facing the wall and I presumed Mata the opposite.
The only thing that could be heard was the ocean's waves before an annoying demigod decided to pipe up again.
"Hey." she whispered, her voice soft as she leaned over the soft barrier to look at me. "Why did you make a great wall? This isn't China, you know."
I turned to face her, although I could hardly see her in the dark. "No offence, but I just didn't want you sweating all over me during the night."
There was no response as she shuffled over to go back to sleep. The sound of the ocean and Piper's soft breathing returned, but it was more tense than tranquil.
Though I didn't owe Mata an explanation; I kinda feel bad for making the wall.
I know I didn't trust her and all, but I still felt bad, and she technically hadn't done anything evil to be so excluded. My gut feeling that Leo was trouble was... well, that was true. That he was a bad guy ,wasn't. Maybe I should've cut the girl some slack?
