Dominique walks in on me...

Percy

I totally just pissed Jason off and it felt great. I mean, why was he wearing a unicorn onesie, anyway?

To be honest, I'm glad he didn't notice how my hair was off in about twenty different directions. I'd just woken up and IM'd (Iris messaged) Jason, without realising how trash I looked.

I lifted up my arm and sniffed underneath (get over it, we all do it). Gods, I smelled rank, so I pulled off my clothes and grabbed a towel to cover the lower part of my body. As I passed my bed, I saw a picture of me  Annabeth grinning from ear to ear, on my bed side table. I remember. That was our one month anniversary date in Paris, where I took her to a fancy restaurant but after big ants came and invaded the place (long story), we decided to eat at a picnic instead. The picture was her sitting down on the picnic blanket, her hair flying out as the wind hit her, as beautiful as ever.

What did you do? I thought, tracing her seemingly innocent face through the glass.

Just then there was a knock at my door.

"Who is it?" I asked absentmindedly.

The door flung the door open and closed as quickly as it was opened. I looked up to Dominique standing in front of my door, looking down at what seemed to be a map.

She looked completely different from how she was before. Her messy, curly hair were in little braids that went down her back, with black beads and gold rings on some of them. The orange CHB tee hung loosely on her skinny frame, which made her eyes look even darker, and black shorts. Her trusty weapon was strapped on her denim jean, making her look like she would kiss you then kill you without mercy.

"You look good," I said casually, crossing my arms.

Dominique eyes shot up and she let out a small gasp. Shoot, I almost forgot I was topless.

"Sorry, I didn't know you were...I mean...I'll leave," She stammered, slowly turning around.

I quickly grabbed a top and put it back on before continuing.

"Nah, it's cool. What's up?" I asked, whilst sitting on my bed.

"Well, I would have been here sooner  but I made a wrong turn and ended up at Aphrodite's cabin, where they did," she guestered to her braids "this."

"So, you've met Piper?" I laughed. She nodded and laughed too for a while until we both went silent. We kinda just stared at each other awkwardly until she broke the silence.

"You were clearly in the middle of whatever, so-"

"Eh. As long as you can stand my BO, a shower can wait."

She looked at me a bit longer, as if she were contemplating it but finally came to sit next me.

I just prayed that my body odour didn't seep through my shirt.

"I just wanted to say thank you," she started "for taking out the fire. I really didn't mean to get so angry."

Her eyes were sad as she looked up at me.

"It's fine. I was doing my duty as the Hero of Olympus." I grinned at her, saying Hero of Olympus dramatically.

"Someone's a cocky bastard." She laughed half-heartidly, which made me properly look at her. She started to fiddle with the map, me just looking at her. Her eyes held a deep sadness and regret, nearly identical to Bianca's as she walked into camp.

"Hey, what happened between you and Annabeth?" I enquired.

"I don't want to expose her." She stammered, not looking in my eyes.

I nearly scoffed. It couldn't be that bad. Annabeth was one of the best people I knew, who was fiercely loyal to everyone she loved, regardless of the person they were. A part of me didn't want to hear what Dominique was about to say, as I wanted to only know the good side of Annabeth, the one I fell in love with. Curiosity got to the better of me. It was a bit like Adam and Eve; they were oblivious until they found knowledge, right and wrong. And they regretted it.

"It's fine. Come on, explain." I nudged her gently, smiling warmly at her so she knew it was okay to tell me. Hesitantly, she began to explain.

As she explained, I thought back to my Adam and Eve reference. Were they knowing right and wrong actually aiding them? Was it better to be oblivious to your surroundings, so you'd be happy? If I didn't have the knowledge of what Annabeth did, I'm sure I would've been happier.

"Percy? How you feeling?" Domique asked, placing her hand on my arm.

How would I answer? Anger, sadness, Confusion? I mainly felt shame. Shame to Annabeth. She normally was such a humble character but I could not believe she could have something this serious and careless. Shame for me. Shame that I forced Domique to spill and I was prying on something that wasn't my business.

I decided not to answer.

"Hey, don't keep this against her. I've forgiven her as I don't want her to become an enemy. We all have a prophecy to fulfil and I'd like to focus on that."

"But she-"

"I know." She intereupted, shrugging her shoulders. "But a child of Hades' fatal flaw is grudges, right? I've had one for years. I'm letting go of it now."

She got up and walked to the door and opened it but stopped short.

"Please don't tell her I told you. I'd rather everyone else to know, when she's ready," She said quietly whilst turning around to face me again.

"Sure," I breathed, still contemplating what I had just been told.

"Cool," she smiled, "What's your full name?"

"Percy Jackson."

"Well, see you around, Jackson." She closed the door.

And like that she was gone. I had no idea how I was going to act with Annabeth. She was the girl that kept me sane in Tartarus. That helped me with my anger management. That caused me to keep living when I lost my memory. But she was the girl that treated Dominique like that.

I picked up the picture and looked at it again. What else have you done, Annabeth?
