Lisa POV

"Louis, this is incredibly sweet, but I don't know if I can accept this. I mean, first class tickets to Paris, one of the most famous cities in the world?" I said and he chuckled lightly.

"Lisa, really. It's fine, I'd do anything for the girl I love on her 20th birthday," he said and I blushed.

"Come on, mate. At least give her a birthday kiss!" Harry said and I hit him in the arm with the envelope that was in my hand.

"Ow, what was that for?" he asked, getting all defensive.

"For being cheeky," I said and he shoved me into Louis, me landing in his arms.

"Now, kiss her. I've been waiting to see this forever," Harry said and groaned. It felt weird to kiss with all these people staring at us.

But, Louis didn't care.

He leaned in and our lips barely brushed before I crashed mine into his, the passionate kiss only lasting for a few seconds before I pulled away, pecked his lips, then looked at everyone else.

"So, now that you've got me up at midnight, what are we going to do?" I asked, but then my phone rang.

I looked down at the caller ID and froze for half a second, but decided to answer the call anyways.

"Hello?" I said into the phone.

"Hey, happy birthday!" he said on the other line.

"Thanks," I said slowly.

"How does it feel to be twenty? You know, the big two-zero," he said and I chuckled.

David used to call me every year on the midnight before my birthday. We had been best friends before we were in a relationship, he would call me at midnight even then.

"I don't know, I feel old," I said and everyone in the room started up conversations with each other, except for Louis, who looked at me expectantly.

"Haha, yeah. That's what time will do to you. You know, the weirdest thing happened yesterday. I was at the store, and when I was in the check-out aisle, there was a magazine with your face on the front cover, so I bought it. I had no idea you were cheating on Louis with a radio host!" he said and laughed, signaling that it was just a joke, so I laughed with him.

"Wow, isn't that funny," I said.

I still had no idea why I was talking to him.

Well, I mean, he was one of the kindest and funniest people I knew when he was sober. I took all the time I needed to admire that.

"Hey, I'm really sorry. About everything. You have no right to forgive me, none at all, but I just want you to know that I apologize, that night two years ago, I didn't even know what was happening. You don't need to forgive me, you probably shouldn't, no body in their right mind would forgive me. I just want to be friends, good friends. Nothing more, nothing less," he said and I sat on the couch in the living room, where it was more quiet.

Louis sat next to me and rubbed his hand on my knee reassuringly, yet the confusion was still in his eyes.

"Hey, David? I wanted to ask you something," I said and Louis eyes went from curious to anger in a matter of seconds after hearing David's name.

"What is it?"

"You know that guy that was with you at the café a few months back?" I asked.

"Yeah, John. What about him?" he asked.

"John, okay. Nothing, never mind. Well it was nice talking to you," I said.

"Yeah, maybe we could meet up sometime? Get coffee, or something. Just as friends," he said and I smiled.
