Lisa POV

"And that's just about it," I said to Aryanna from my seat across from her at some café we decided to meet up at.

I thought that maybe it was time to tell her everything. And I mean everything. From Louis hitting me with his car that first day, to the contract, to being forced to go on certain dates, to our break-up story. I even included the really bad things that happened that day.

"Seriously?" Aryanna breathed out with her jaw dropped. I nodded slowly and she recollected herself.

"Why didn't you tell me?" she asked and I shrugged.

"Catherine told me that I should tell as little people about the contract as possible. Trust me, I wanted to tell you everything so bad, I just had restrictions," I explained.

"Sorry, I feel like I'm wasting your time," I chuckled lightly and she did the same.

"No worries, I have until 1:30, then I need to leave for my job interview," she responded and I nodded.

"I'm yours for another fifteen minutes," I said and she smiled at me before my phone rang. I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked down. The number was one that didn't have a contact name, but I was able to recognize the digits in no time.

I looked up at Aryanna and she tilted her head to the side in confusion.

I quickly swiped to the right of the screen and put it up to my ear.

With all the strength I could muster, which wasn't a lot, I let out a weak, "Hello?"

I heard him sigh on the other line before he whispered, "Lisa."

"Louis?" I asked into the phone, just to be completely sure it was him. Even though I had heard his voice and had his phone number memorized like the back of my hand.

I mouthed to Aryanna that I was going to take the call outside. She nodded in understanding and I quickly stood up and rushed outside.

"Why-" I began before clearing my throat. "Why did you call?" I managed to spit out. I already found myself almost in tears, but I wasn't sure whether they were happy or sad tears.

"I just, I just got out of my managements office. I guess you're coming to the VMA's in Los Angeles with us?" Louis stated, though it sounded more like a question.

"Yeah. But is that a good thing, or a b-bad thing?" I asked and groaned before smacking my forehead.

I absolutely hated my nervous stutter.

"Well, that's what I'm still trying to figure out," he responded and I thought I heard a car engine come to life. I could feel a single tear fall down my face.

I missed him so much.

It had been a moment of uncomfortable silence, and I didn't know if Louis was even still on the phone or not.

"Louis?"

"Yeah?"

"Just making sure you were still there," I said quietly.

"Oh."

I sighed before closing my eyes. "What are we even doing?"

"I honestly have no idea," Louis responded.

"Wait, are you on the phone while driving?"

"Yes, why?"

"I don't know- just please stay safe," I told him and I could almost feel him nod his head through the phone.

"Don't worry about it, I'll be fine," he said and I opened my eyes slowly.

"Wow, it kind of almost feels like we've switched roles," I said suddenly.

"Why do you say that?"

"Because I would talk to you while I was driving in the car, while you were probably walking outside and seeing all the sights while you weren't performing or practicing while you were on tour," I explained and I heard him chuckle. I felt another tear fall.

I missed that laugh.

"So, what have you been up to?" Louis asked and I scoffed.

"Seriously?"

"Sorry, I just felt it get a bit awkward," he said and I took a deep breath before I heard the café door open. I looked up and saw Aryanna walk out. She looked at me and pointed at her phone, which said 1:30 on it.

Oh, she has to leave.

I nodded and held my hand up to my opposite ear, as a sign that says "call me after the interview". She nodded and got into her car.

"You still there?" Louis asked and I laughed. A real laugh.

"Yeah," I responded and sniffed. I could feel another small layer of tears fall.

I wanted to see him.

No, scratch that. I needed to see him.

"Are you crying?" Louis asked softly.

"Yeah. Yeah, I am," I responded. I heard Louis sniff in once too.

"That's funny, because I am, too."

Louis POV

"Really? I didn't think you'd be crying over this," Lisa said and I smiled slightly.

"Trust me, this past week has been hell for me," I told her right before I remembered that her week had probably been worse.

"Yeah, same here." Lisa responded and I sighed. I looked out my window and saw someone standing outside a café with a phone pressed up to their ear. I instantly recognized them as Lisa.

She had her back facing the road, so I continued driving without stopping for her.

Why would I need to? She didn't need to know that I was right here. I was just on my way back home.

"When I see you tomorrow, can we talk? Like really talk? I really need to explain everything to you. Not just about our fight, but also what happened after I left your flat," Lisa said and I breathed in, knowing exactly what happened after she left. But, I didn't tell her that. I didn't want her to know that Harry told me everything.

"Uh, yeah. Of course. We can talk on the plane. Of course, the other boys and their girlfriends will be there, too, but that doesn't mean we can't talk," I told her and I could almost hear her smile in her voice as she spoke the next word.

"Wonderful."
