I woke up at around 5 am to the sound of grrring. The generator had been turned on. I wasn't completely sleep deprived as I had a nap during the day yesterday. I woke up an hour after falling asleep yesterday to Carter tapping me, asking me for help to open his bottle with a child seal on it. I laughed, He kept a smug face in protest of his weakness. He blamed it on his cold hands that couldn't work after being outside in the below freezing weather. I must admit, child locks are quite difficult to open. It takes quite a few tries but I did it in the end. He read the directions and took the pills. He was really happy and jumpy the rest of the night. I could tell I wasn't the only one awake at this early hour to the sound of the generator. I heard footsteps from the other side of the loft, then the sound of a thud as Carter skipped the last 2 steps of the ladder and jumped. We all do that though, It's too much unneeded work to actually take the time and go down all the steps. I must say, since I moved in here I've climbed up and down ladders more than I have in my entire lifetime.

I went down the ladder as well, I left Addy to sleep because she was actually still able to do so.

" 'Morning Carter" I said.

"Morning" He responded quietly. He was already getting out his tea cup and taking out the coffee part of the coffee maker. When you did this it just made hot water instead of coffee.

"You want tea?" He asked me.

"Sure" I answered. He got out a second cup and filled it with water. I didn't even realize Addy was downstairs until she was behind me and wrapping her arms around me. I jumped a bit, but relaxed as I realized what had just happened. I could hear her giggle. Soon I smiled as well. Carter looked at us with a smirk.

"Good morning, good morning, we've talked the whole night through, good morning, good morning to you!" I heard her sing quietly. I'm assuming she forgot the lyrics considering she just hummed out the tune after that. She was in quite a happy mood for such an early hour.

"Carter can I have tea as well?" She asked from the fridge. "Also what are we doing for breakfast this morning?" The grrr of the generator continued on and we all had to speak loudly to hear each other.

" I'm just going to make myself cereal if you'd like some too" I said. Both of them said yes. I took out the cheerios and poured 3 bowls, Addy added milk. Everybody took their bowls to the island.

" How do you even know that song Addy?" I asked, the familiar tune running through my mind.

" Whenever I slept over my Grandmas, which was when we didn't have power or a generator, they would always have their generator on and to call everyone down for breakfast my grandpa would sing that." Addy said before taking a spoon full of cheerios to her mouth. " It was a good way of forgetting about the loud and annoying grrr and a great way to wake up" She continued.

"That sounds nice" Carter said with a smile. We all ate our cereal and went on with our powerless day. The website said it'd be on by 11:00 am, so that gave me a little hope. Our phones were charged so we still could play wifi less games and text because we still had service.

"Hey, if the powers back on by noon can Grey come over?" Carter asked.  Assumed he was texting them.

"Um yeah I guess so. The apartments clean, I don't see why not" Addy said.

"It feels weird being able to give someone permission to invite someone over, I feel like your parent" I told Carter with a small smile on my face.

"Well I feel like I have to ask cause what if I just let someone over but were busy and it's like, oh you have to go back home" He explained. "Also Grey's my only friend" The last part he said a little more quiet than the last. I chuckled a bit.
