Reinvent Love

When the day met the night

2 more days. I just kept thinking that this would be the best trip of my life. It had been years since I have been back to
New York City, and maybe even longer since I've ice skated. I wasn't the only one excited, Addy was too. Carter just laughs at us. He has to stay and work also I can't pay for another person. I woke up I guess a bit late. Addy was already sat up and had her glasses on. She was looking at her phone. I contemplated pretending to be asleep still, but I also wanted to be with Addy. I wiggled my way over like a worm still in my blanket and put my head sorta on her lap but also kinda her stomach because she wasn't sitting up fully.She put her arm around me and messed with my hair.

"Good morning" I said, my voice muffled from the blanket.

"Hello" She answered.

"Watcha lookin' at?" I asked, scooting my way up a little.

"I'm looking at the pictures of the hotel" She answered, her gaze never leaving the screen.

I made my way up to the point where my head was resting on her soldier. I too was now looking at the photos. " Wow" I said. I had somewhat forgot what it looked like. It wasn't extravagant, considering it costed $125 a night, but it was actually quite good for the price. It had really nice rooms, following a yellow and green theme. It looked so sunshiny, in a way. I couldn't help but smile. The pool looked super modern and cool. I couldn't wait to go in there. I kinda hoped we'd get a room on one of the top floors. The New York City Skyline is beautiful.

"This might be the most amazing thing that's going to happen in my life" Addy said, silence being broken along with her laughing a bit.

"You're welcome" You could hear the smile in my voice.

" You know, I have a really cool gift planned for us too." Addy said. " It doesn't involve us going anywhere, actually no I lied we would be going one place but like, not like the New York City thing"

" Ooo" I said, " Can you give me a hint?" I poked her cheek, causing her to give a smirk.

" I'll tell you one thing, you'll love it considering how much you love the past" She said, mystery lingering in her voice.

At this point I was really confused. Loving the past? I guess i'll figure it out the day I get it.

The day went on. We ate our breakfast, watching some TV, and hung out together. I thought about what we'd do today.

" Hey Addy, do you think you want to go Christmas Shopping today?" I asked.

" Yeah that would be cool" She said.

" It won't take long considering I just have to get gifts for you and Carter" I said with a small laugh. " Also I'll probably get some cards to mail out to friends."

" I don't have to get too many either. Just like my parents and my sister, and of course you and Carter" She said.

" Wait you have a sister?" I asked.

" Oh wait I didn't tell you about her? Oh well yeah she's like 5 or 6 now and her names Emma, but everyone calls her Bean" Addy said, smiling a bit.

I chuckled " Please explain the name Bean."

" Well my parents who are obviously great at naming named her Emma Bean Watson, and we just call her by her middle name"

" That's amazing" I said.

A little while later we got dressed and headed out. Luckily the sidewalks defrosted. We made our way to the mall.

" Ok i'll meet you at the food court at 1" I told Addy.

" Sounds good" She replied. We went separate ways. I thought about what i'd get Carter. I thought for a while, but then I remembered something he really loved since he was a kid- comic books. Mix that with his love for Gerard Way, and you get Doom patrol. I assumed he hadn't read it, considering his parents would of probably thought comics were for boys and not Carter at the time. Of course they wouldn't sell it anywhere here. I'd have to buy it online. But the thing I wanted to get for Addy would be here. I walked until I found the jewelry store. I browsed through all the necklaces until I found it, the one I had seen on the website. A silver necklace with a pendant on it shaped like a crescent moon. Not long After that I found one just like it but with a Sun. I don't see Addy wear jewelry very often, but I knew she'd like this. especially with the story behind it.

I had an idea for another thing for Carter, but I wasn't sure if i'd be able to find it. I looked in hot topic because that's the place I thought it would be. Sure enough I was able to find it. A Trans pride flag that said " Human" on it with a zig zag line thing that probably meant something. I thought it was pretty cool so I purchased it. Along with that I got a few pins that said cool stuff, because they were like 99 cents. I also stopped in home goods and got cards so I could fill and send them out.

As of the moment my shopping was done. I checked the time. 12:45. I had 15 minutes to kill. I sent Addy a text to see what point she was at.

Ruby♦️- hey are you done with shopping? i got nothing else to do and there's still 15 mins
Addy❄️- i'm very close to done i'm checking out in a minute or two
Ruby♦️-ok i'm gonna start making my way towards the food court
Addy❄️-ok go ahead i'll be there soon.

I put my phone back in my pocket and started heading towards the food court, which was conveniently placed on the opposite side of the mall. Eventually I got there. I sat at a table and people watched for a bit. Quite a diverse place this is.people from all over the world coming to the nearby college means hundreds of different ethnic groups here. My staring off into space moment was ended by Addy tapping on my shoulder.

" Oh hi" I said, sitting up a little straighter.

" Hey whatcha doing?" She asked.

" Oh just thinking" I answered. I kinda wanted to smack myself for how idiotic that sounded.

" Ok then", She answered a tiny bit skeptically. " Wanna get food now?"

" Um yeah sure let's go" I said. There was restaurants all around the sitting area. " Ooo i'm gonna go get some pretzel maker"

" pretzel maker?" Addy asks seeming confused.

" You've never had it oh my god you need to try it" I rambled on.

" Ok" She answered. I took her hand and somewhat dragged her over to Pretzel Maker. I ordered us the pretzel bites and a lemonade to share. We went back to our table and sat down.

I took one and started to eat it. " Try one" I said through bites.

She picked one up and ate it. " Wow" She said.

" I know right" I smiled and continued eating them.

" I can't believe i've been missing this my entire life" She said with a small laugh. I just smiled and nodded. We finished the pretzels, occasionally taking sips of the lemonade.

" I'm gonna go throw this out" She said. She took the cup it came in and made her way to the garabage. After throwing it out, she came back and grabbed her bags. " Ready to go?"

" Yeah" I answered. I put on my coat and grabbed my 2 bags. We started walking. I saw she was holding a hollister bag and a Gap bag and a few others. I'm assuming the Gap one was for Emma. We got outside and were met by the cold air. We got back to the apartment, which was luckily much warmer. Addy headed up and hid her stuff somewhere. I did the same.

Now I should probably take the time to explain the 2 necklaces. Well the song " When the day met the night", is about when the moon and the sun met and fell in love. Addys my sun. that makes me the moon, and soon we'll have necklaces to comemerate that. Also it works out because we both love panic. I wouldn't be able to wear mine until christmas day. I couldn't wait to give her it. It'll be golden, when the day meets the night.
