valentine's day! it's back again and this time i actually have someone to celebrate it with. Making the bracelets last night was kind of difficult as i was really excited to give it to her. I gathered various strings and watched an instructional video, and because I didn't want Addy to find out I locked myself in the bathroom. Stupid, very. But at least I could keep it a secret. The little kid in the video made one in 15 minutes so that was good for me. I told Addy I was shaving my legs so I would take longer, even though it's winter. she believed it somehow. I stuck the mass of string under my shirt and went in. To keep my cover story consistant, I ran the water for a bit. After a minute I turned off the water and started. I struggled through making the knots and twists and my outcome was a decent looking rainbow bracelet. Then I had to make another. The second one went quicker when I knew what I was doing. I was very happy for once that both Addy and I had small wrists so I didn't have to make a long one. Then I realized if Addy somehow felt my legs she would realize I didn't shave at all, so I did possibly the quickest shave of my life. By that point my dignity had gone down the drain like the water I ran for the false sound of me running a bath. I stepped out of the bathroom, hiding all the things I took in there in my shower bag that I don't think i've ever been more thankful for. When I went upstairs Addy was in utter panic to hide something, so I guess that was a good sign that she got me something. During her panic I heard quite a few pencils dropping on the ground, which gave me a small hint. for the sake of the surprise I didn't try to peak. Carter was hyper as well, stressing over his handwriting on his little sign. I told him it's be more sincere if he hand wrote it instead of getting me to do it because I surprisingly had the neatest penmanship out of us three. He finally was happy with what he made, I was just so excited for everyone. when everyone was asleep I wrote the most heartfelt card I could compose.

The morning came with sweetness in the air and excitement of many. I got up exceptionally early to go to dunkin and get heart shaped doughnuts and coffee for Addy and I, but just so I didn't leave carter excluded I got him something. After I got home I crawled back into bed like nothing happened, but before so I wrote a little note that said " happy valentine's day" and stuck it on the doughnut box. Addy woke up around 30 minutes later.

"good morning Addy!" I said softly. A smile was already on my face. Although still laying down I wrapped her in a hug. She smiled lazily

"morning" she responded.

"come downstairs I got you something" I said cheerfully. She perked up, and got out from under the blankets. I went down the ladder first and she followed, smiling as she saw the coffee and doughnuts.

" happy valentine's day!" I said as I opened up the box and took a doughnut.

" aww thank you!" she responded. She took one as well, and a coffee. both of us got the same thing so it really didn't matter which one she took.

" I can't wait for later because where i'm taking us?" Addy said.

" the buffet?" I guessed.

" mhm" she responded with a smirk.

"aw heck yeah!" I exclaimed. there was this chinese buffet that had really good food and prices, but it seemed like the amount of times we went was close to zero as it was all the way across campus. I took my coffee and stirred it, then took a sip.

"when do you think you want to exchange gifts?" I asked. I had no classes today and neither did Addy.

" maybe after lunch at the buffet?" She answered. "I wanna do it at home so I can actually show affection without some homophobe getting angry"

It made me sad that the reason we couldn't act like any other straight couple and show any form of affection in public was because some thick skulled losers can't except people for something that doesn't affect them at all. hopefully someday that'll change.
