Chapter 14

[Iris POV]

It's been over a month since the attack at the headquarters. Everything seems settled now. We are sitting in the cafe room at school during lunch. Today Ash brought Leaf to school because his maids had gone for their uncle's funeral and Ash didn't want to leave her at home alone or at the daycare.

She was enjoying her day very much, every teacher and student who would walk by would stop and ask, some even squeezed her cheeks. “Ash, I'm feeling tired….*yawn* can I go to sleep?” Leaf asked as she let out a long yawn. She was now getting tired, after all she's just 4 years old. “That's a problem… it's just half of the day and I don't think there is any place where you can sleep…. Uh, let's see... would it be okay if I leave you at the nursing room?” He said, Leaf was too sleepy to answer but, “if I can sleep there peacefully,*yawn* then okay…” she replied drowsily. Ash stood up and took her in his arms. “I'll meet you and Dawn at the battle class.” He said to May then left to the nurse's office.

“It must be difficult for him, to look after so many things.” Serena said, “yeah you're right, If it was me I would have failed in just a week.” Misty replied, we all chuckled at her words. “I can't believe how he does all the work so easily. I mean he has to take care of a little sister, about 600 Pokemons, school work. Then there is the Pokenation. Aghhhh…” Dawn freaked out. Everyone started laughing at her actions as she was banging her head against the table top. “Ummm, by the way. I have a question…” Dawn said once she stopped banging her head. Hey forehead was a little red from all that but anyways, “what?” We all asked her. “You see, I was thinking…. If Ash doesn't have parents and he earns his money by his work and then he knows about everything….. Then why is he studying in this school?” She said in a very solemn tone, there was a moment of silence between us. “That is a good point made out.” I said, “yeah, actually now that you've mentioned it, I think the same as well.” May said, we all were now in deep thoughts. “I think there is something that he's hiding from us.” Misty said, we were Disturbed from our thoughts by the bell. We left the room and went to our respective classes. The whole day I was thinking about our little conversation about Ash. There was something suspicious.

During 6th period, me and Ash were in art class, the teacher told us to draw our starter Pokemon. Mine was a Dratini from the dragon village so I drew it, Ash had a Pikachu who was still a Pikachu so he drew him.

When everyone was done the teacher inspected them, and few students, including me and Ash, who drew the best received a reward. The teacher told to open it when we get home. The class ended so me and Ash were walking to the lockers.

I gathered some courage and asked, “hey Ash, I w-was thinking that...w-why do you come t-to school…… I mean you already have so much work, and….no one forces you to school, even Leaf misses you. Why don't you spend your time with her at home?” He looked at me with raised eyebrows. “Ehh...I wonder why it came all of a sudden?” He said with a smirk. I got a little hesitated, “uhhh… i-it's ummm….ahh, I don't know… uhh, just a ….” I started to hesitate. He laughed at my behavior, “is okay, but the answer to the question is quite difficult…. It's a secret so I better tell you in private so no one else knows.” He said then turned straight, we reached our lockers, after taking our things for next lesson we walked ahead but Ash took me to another place.

We were walking down the hallway, when we heard someone shout, “look out, my Arcanine is out of control!” We turned around to see an Arcanine running towards us. Ash pushed me out of the way and the Arcanine went into him but Ash quickly jumped doing a backflip and landed on Arcanine, then he started to calm him down. Soon the Arcanine calmed down and stopped. I was so scared that my heart was beating at light speed. The boy came running to us, “I'm sorry for my Arcanine, I don't know how it happened but thank you Ash for helping me.” he said, Ash smiled, “no problem, but be careful next time.” He said, “okay, thanks again. Good bye.” The boy said then returned his Arcanine and walked away.

Now Ash turned to me, “you okay?”, “Yeah, I'm okay.” I replied. “Good, now let's go to the private room.” He says as he walked ahead, “but the Teacher would be angry if I'm late for the class.” I said with worry. “Not a problem, tell him that you were with me, the teachers know about me so he'll leave you.” he said, I did not reply just followed him. We reached the music room, which was empty because there was no class. We went in then Ash closed the door.

“Sooo…. What's the 'secret’?” I asked, emphasizing the secret. “Huhh, well the main reason behind me attending the school is…”

He started, as he took a seat near the piano, I also took a seat a little further near the piano. “the security of the jewel of life. Do you know about the Jewels of Eternity?” He asked, I shook my head since I didn't know much. “Okay, when the universe was created, it was created along with five jewels; Energy, Time, Space, Entity and Life. These Jewels were secured in the five regions; Kanto, Hoenn, Unova, Sinnoh and Kalos, in different forms either in Rock, stone, Pokemons or human beings. The Jewels of Time and Space are secured at my headquarters under high military supervision. The Jewel of Energy is also safe, however the Jewels of life and Entity are not in my possession. The jewel of Entity is already taken by Giovanni. But we still don't have the jewel of life. Giovanni still doesn't know where it is, but I do.” He told, “so why don't you take it before he finds out?” I suggested, he looked at me from the corner of his eyes. “I know but the jewel is in the form of human being, so in order to get it, I need to kill the person. So my mission is to protect that person from Giovanni. I've already targeted the person so she's safe.” He said, my eyes widened. “You mean, the Jewel of life is inside a girl. Does she studies and our school?” I asked, he nodded slowly. “You know her? does she know about that? Who is she?” I started to question him. “First, I know her. Second, she doesn't know about herself and third, her name is….. Serena.” He said, whispering the last word, my eyes popped up at this, i shot up from my chair in an instant. “WHAT!?” I shouted in shock, I was so loud he pressed his ears with his hands. “Hey quite down, and don't tell it to anyone even her. The longer it is a secret the better, I don't want Giovanni to come and kill her.” He whispered, I just nodded. After that I asked him a few questions. But he refused to tell me about anything. We left the music room and walked to our eighth class separately. After school when I was in the limo, I was staring at Serena time to time and thinking about her. For my fortune no one noticed me.
