Chapter 24

[Serena POV]

I heard Leaf's scream and quickly rushed down to see what happened.

“Serena quick see this.” Amy said, she had also got there on hearing Leaf. She was pointing to the TV. I saw it was the news channel. I looked closely, and my eyes widened. It was a news about Kanto. There was an attack, the whole region along with Johto had been blocked. The communication and transportation had been stopped. The channel was only showing what they had before they got cut off from the communication.

A feeling of horror rang up my heart. I felt really scared for Ash. What would have happened to him? Would he be okay? My mind started racing thousand thoughts at the moment. I was so lost in my mind that I didn't notice anything around me. Finally I was broken by a jerk to my body, I looked down to see a Leaf with tears in her eyes. She was hugging me below my waist. “Serena, will Ash come back?” She asked, “of course Leaf, why won't he?” I replied, trying my best not break down. I needed to believe in him, I know he will be alright.

That day went really slow as if every second seem to be a millennium. All of my friends had seen the news and were worried for Ash. I don't even feel like eating anything at the dinner but I need to be energized. Leaf also was really sad. She didn't do anything the whole afternoon and evening. At night she came to my room and asked if she could sleep with me. I welcomed her and tucked her on the bed with me. She quickly cuddled up with me and drifted off in her slumber. However, I was still having a hard time getting sleep. I was worrying to much about Ash. I stayed up for some more time then finally drifted off.

Next morning when I woke up I had a mild headache. I ignored it and carried on with my daily routine. During the third class, it started to get worse.

“Hey Serena? Are you okay?” Dawn asked, she must have seen the way I was acting. “Aarghh, no! My head... hurts.” I groaned in pain. “I think you should go to the nurse's office. I'll come with you.” She said, “okay.” I whispered. She stood up from her seat, the professor stopped taking and looked at her. “What is it Ms Berlitz?” He asked, “Sir, Serena here is having a headache. So I thought that it would be good to go to the the nurse. So can I take her there to make she is okay?” Dawn said, “alright, you can go. Take care Ms Yvonne.” He said, Dawn took my hand and took me out of the classroom, Greninja followed behind. She took me towards the nurse's office, but in the way something strange happened. I was struggling to walk straight, so Greninja helped his support. Suddenly Dawn said that she was feeling very weak and my headache was getting worse. When we reached the nurse's office she took me to the check up room and laid me on a bed. She was checking me up when suddenly she started to stumble. She said that she would be back in a moment and walked out. As I laid there I started thinking about this all then it strike me, it was probably the jewel of life. It must be absorbing there life energy around it. And since I was absorbing too much of Energy my head was paining and the people around me were feeling weak because I was taking there life Energy.

I started feeling very scared, I quickly pressed the buzzer beside my bed to call the nurse. She came after a few minutes, “No don't come near me, please send Greninja.” She nodded in confusion but went out and Greninja came in next. I stopped him too from coming near me then explained about my thoughts. After listening he sighed deeply he walked to my bag and took out a rough book and a pen and started scribbling on it. After some time he showed me the message he wrote.

“If what you told me is true then only xerneas can help you. And I don't know where Ash has put her pokeball so all you can do for now is absorb my energy. But you don't worry, I am accustomed to not lose my energy unrequired. So I can stay with as much as I want without even being hurt by you. And also you will not be absorbing any Energy from me so your pain shall subside eventually if no one else comes near you.”

I read it then looked back at Greninja, “so even if you are close to me I can not absorb your life?” I asked, he nodded in reply. Then again took the book and wrote something.

“I'll just go and ask nurse to leave you so that you can stay away from all these students, because if you are surrounded by many people maybe you shall absorb to much Life energy which you can't handle.”

I just nodded in understandment. He went out with my book to talk to the nurse. I waited in my bed, my head was still hurting. There are too many people around me. Suddenly a thought came to my mind. Last night I was sleeping with Leaf, and my head started hurting in the morning. Did I absorb her life too. If my head was aching then I may have absorbed to much energy. Is leaf okay? I began to get worried what if I used to much of her life. With every thought I got even more scared.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when Greninja came back. He noticed the looks in my face and looked at my questioningly. “Greninja I'm worried for leaf, what if I absorbed to much of her life then what will happen to her?” I asked with the same experience of horror in my face, but Greninja stayed calm, he wrote something in the book and showed me.

“No need to worry. Ash had given her a part of his jewel. She has much more power than you think.”

After reading it, I got some relief. I took a deep breath then looked back at Greninja who was staring at me, as if he wanted to ask something. “What?” I asked, he motioned me for a ‘let's go’ sign. “Oh, yeah. We should go.” I said, but when I started to get up, I stumbled but Greninja caught me. He gave me a ‘be careful’ look and I nodded back. I started to get up again but couldn't do it. My head was hurting immensely. That's when Greninja picked me up in his arms. I gave out a loud squeal, my cheeks started to heat up and I don't know why. Maybe because he was Ash's Pokemon. Greninja still looked at me as if asking if I was okay. “Ye-yeah, n-no problem, let's g-go.” I replied. He came out of the room and I saw the nurse looking at me. She gave a soft giggle but continued on with her work. When Greninja came out of the nurse's office, he started running at a fast pace. He leapt up long jumps and we were home in no less than 2 minutes. He tooj me inside, Amy was surprised to see me at this time of the day but I explained her everything and she understood. Greninja took me to my room and laid on the bed then he walked to the window and yelled out. He must be talking to another Pokemon because there was a chain of sounds. He returned back to me and showed me a finger, telling me to wait for a minute. Soon a Pokemon came inside the room, she was Ash's Meganium.

Greninja told her everything and went out of the room. Meganium then came near me and paced her vines around my body to support me in getting up. She helped me change into my easy clothes, then she used LEECH SEED on me. It was painful but after some time the pain decreased and my head ache too. It absorbed the extra energy from me. I felt refreshed. I thanked her then we both went down to meet everyone. Leaf was the first to see me and came running to me and hugged.

“Are you feeling okay now?” She asked in concern. I looked at her and gave her a big smile, “yes I'm feeling great now! Thanks to Meganium.” I said looking at the aroma Pokemon. She gave out a delightful cry. We talked about what really happened to me then ate our lunch, after the lunch it was the same day as other, just waiting for Ash to return back.

However, I still was affected by the Jewel so I had to rest more. As I was laying in bed I recalled what Greninja said.

'If this happened again I'm afraid meganium might not be able to help. And I don't know how would it affect you if you are stressed, so I'll say that try not to get stressed out, or the situation might get out of control. Let's hope Ash returns soon...'
