Chapter 29

[Ash's POV]

As we flew over the seas, the cool air whizzing past my face felt so great. After so much effort we finally managed to get everything back to work in Kanto. Now we only need to inform Hoenn Joint Special Operations Command about our communication re-establishment, so that we can send out the reports to other regions too.

While we were over the Hoenn Seas, I felt a weird feeling in me. The feeling was different and unexplainable. It was like my chest felt heavy. Like my power being withdrawn. It was quite little so I ignored it and just relaxed to the view and enjoyed the weather.

On reaching Hoenn, I asked Charizard to fly to Rustboro city. When we reached there I quickly went to the Devon corporation to meet the president. I told Charizard and Pikachu to go to the Pokemon centre to get them healed.

As I entered the building the lady at the desk noticed me and her eyes went wide. As I made my way to her she seemed to be lost somewhere in her thoughts. “Excuse me?” I spoke, she broke out of her trance and asked in shaky voice. “Are you Mr Ketchum, the president of Pokenation?” Her voice showed shock. I nodded, “Yes and I want to meet Devon's president right now.” I asked. She nodded furiously before picking up the receiver of the phone kept near her.

“Sir, Mr Ketchum from Pokenation, Kanto is here himself. I'm sending him to your office in a moment.” She spoke hastily. There was a short response from the other side of the phone and she put it down. She gently stood from her seat and came around the desk.

Walking towards the elevator, she gestured me to follow, “Please come with me.” I followed her right away and soon we reached the president's office. She gave a soft knock on the door before opening it. She gestured me to go in and then closed the door as she stayed outside.

When I entered the office I saw Mr Stone sitting in his large arm chair behind the desk. On seeing me jumped from his chair and stood up. “Mr Ketchum, it's such a surprise to see you. I have been aware of the tragedy in Kanto. How is everything? The communications are lost from both Kanto and Johto. How are you? Are the Kantonian refugees safe? What happened?” He burst out into a fit of questions.

I gave a small chuckle before answering, “Calm down Mr Stone. Everything is better now. Yes there were some lose but now everything is fine. And I am perfect myself, as well as the refugees. The communications have been set up and I have come here to ask a favour of you.” I said, he gestured me to take my seat which I did. “Of course, I'll help you with anything just ask.” He said readily. “Thanks, so I wanted you to send us some of your best navigation and communication device that cannot be hacked into. I want it as soon as possible and in a large amount too. As I want it to be in every one of my organization members as well so the region champions and the security services of each region. The money transfer will be through cheque under the name of Ash Ketchum. The flights from Kanto will be running from day after tomorrow. I hope you can arrange it quick.” I told, he went into deep thought for a while. Then replied, “Hmm… It’s a really difficult request as you have asked a fairly big amount. But don't worry, I can arrange it for you in three days. Is that okay?” he looked up, I nodded back in agreement. “That's more than okay. Thanks a lot. Now I must bid my farewell as I have to go to the Army headquarters too. Thank you for your time.” I said and stood up, he too followed me.

“Oh no, it's nothing to what you have been doing for everyone. I'll be happy to help you with anything you want in the future as well. Your order will be shipped soon, I assure you.” He shook hands with me then I walked out of his office and down the elevator. The lady at the desk gave me her genuine smile when I walked past her. I returned her the smile and went out.

When I came out, Charizard was already there waiting for me with Pikachu nowhere to be seen. I walked in to him and asked where was he and Charizard only pointed towards a certain direction. I turned my head to his pointer and saw Pikachu with a group of little girls who were cuddling him. It was really amusing to see him like this. I slowly approached them and called out, “C'mon buddy, we need to go.” All of them looked at me and there was range of expressions over their faces. The girls looked sad and disappointed while Pikachu looked really happy as if he wanted to get away from them. I just looked at their cute faces and then spoke, “Alright, I'll leave him here for a few moments then take him back. Until then you can enjoy your cuddle party.” The girls’ face lit up and Pikachu looked at with an 'are you serious' look.

I just waved at him and went back to Charizard and mounted his back. Pikachu kept on calling back for me to take him with me but I didn't want to upset those little cuties. Through the flight Charizard could not stop laughing at what I did with Pikachu. Surely I was going to get a strong THUNDER on me.

Charizard flew for a few miles before landing in Petalburg city in front of Hoenn Joint Special Operations Command. The building was fairly large and had a huge gate guarded with troops. I walked to the gate, Charizard following behind. The soldier at the gate asked me for my identity. I showed him my Card and I was given access right away.

When I entered the building, there were mostly soldiers and officials doing their chores. I made my way to the main office of the chief commander. Charizard was still behind me, but I asked him to wait outside as I stood in front of the door. I knocked it slightly, and a voice was heard from the other side. “Come in.” I carefully turned the knob and entered the office.

The chief was busy with some paperwork and did not notice me. I cleared my throat making him look up. On seeing me his eyes went wide. “Ash Ketchum?” He asked in an incoherent tone. He stood up from his chair and marched over to me round his desk. He held me by my shoulders and looked at me contently.

“Yes, it's me. I'm back…” I spoke slowly. The chief was more than surprised to see me here. He asked me the whole lot about the incident and I answered him without obligation. He was relieved that the communication was finally built up and was going to connect soon. He immediately informed this to all the other regions and asked them to not leak the information in the public yet.

We discussed about the situation and other important things and then I asked my leave. He acknowledged my words and told that I could use his force whenever I needed and all of the services will be available for Pokenation at one command. I thanked him for his consideration and took my leave. After exiting the office.

Charizard and I walked back to the exit. When we were finally out, I took a breath of relief. “Okay Charizard, we're all done now let's get Pikachu and go to Kalos.” Charizard cheered up at this and took his stance. I climbed up his back and he blasted off back to Rustboro city.
