your eyes shot open at the sound of your six month old baby crying, her tiny cries echoed throughout the apartment, and you could hear your husband, joji, moving next to you.
the two of you were wrapped up in your blankets, trying to catch up on some much needed rest. having a baby meant sleep was an afterthought.
"not it" he mumbled in his grumbly voice, you turned to face him, "i gave birth to her" you mumbled, with a deadpan expression on your face.
you had also gotten up to get her six times tonight, and you were on a total of about two hours of sleep. motherhood looks very different in diaper commercials than in real life.
he let out a groan, knowing he had lost this argument, that trick always worked. your eyes fully opened and noticed your surroundings, night light shining through the windows and casting white glows all over the room.
joji
i shuffled out of bed and to the nursery, i was beyond exhausted, and being a dad is one the of most tiring experiences ever.
i opened her bedroom door and saw isla, our six month old baby sitting up in her crib, wide eyed.
"hi angel, you alright?" i smiled, walking over to her and flicking a lamp on. i reached down into the crib, and scooped her up.
i settled down in the chair we have in the corner of the nursery and sat down with her on my chest.
"you feeling alright princess?" i asked, patting her back gently, and feeling quite successful that her tears slowly started dying down.
i looked down and looked at the most precious thing in the world, my baby. i didn't expect to be a dad this early, but there is nothing else i would want more.
when y/n gave birth, i had never expected to have the connection with this tiny baby that i do now.
after the tears had fully came to a stop, isla had seemed to fallen back asleep. very gently, i stood up, and placed her back in her crib.
i then tip toed back from her crib and closed the room door. i then walked back to our bedroom.
i walked into the warm room and my eyes landed on my beautiful wife. whose hair was spread all over the pillow and her legs were sticking out from the sheets.
we are both so young, and i don't think anyone expected us to last as long as we did, and now we're married with a baby.
i clambered under the covers and peeled the sheets up then got under and pulled y/n towards me.
she stayed asleep and i closed my eyes, content with everything. just as i was about to fall asleep, isla's cry's echoed through the entire apartment, again.
i heard y/n let out a whine and i decided to let her sleep and get up again, i stumbled out of bed and through the hallway.
my hand landed on the doorknob and i opened the door, revealing isla, lying in her crib, crying again. it absolutely broke my heart when she cried.
"hi baby," i sighed, lifting her up again. she sat content in my arms and the tears stopped. i attempted to place her back in her crib only for her to let out another cry.
"okay, okay, you wanna go see mom?" i yawned, and then i kept her in my arms and left her room, and walked through the hallway and then into our bedroom.
y/n's head popped up as i walked into the room, "hi baby" she smiled, and isla stuck her arms out.
i sat her down on the bed and y/n picked her up, and isla immediately settled down onto her chest.
i smiled at them and then got into bed under the blankets. y/n ran her fingers through islas wispy hairs on the top of her head.
"she's so cute" i whispered, "i know, and we made her" y/n smiled, marveling at the sight of isla.
the sight of my two girls made my heart melt, they really were my entire world. "lemme take a picture" i smiled, and i grabbed my phone, walking over to her side of the bed.
