i had been working on my music for the past couple hours and i was pretty tired, my eyes flickered to the clock and noticed that it was 4am, "shit" i groaned.

i took my ear buds out of my ears and placed my laptop onto the ground below, and pulled my blanket over my body and cozied into my pillow.

i closed my eyes and was almost asleep when i heard the muffled sound of someone crying. it sounded like it was in my apartment, i stood up, a little confused and started walking around my room, pressing my ear to all the walls, trying to hear where the sobbing was coming from.

i pressed my ear to the final wall and heard the familiar crying coming from the other side, who lives next to me? i should really know all my neighbours but i guess i can't remember.

i got back into bed and hoped i would be able to fall asleep but the crying never ceased. it was the type of cry that absolutely broke your heart listening to it, and i felt too bad too just let it continue.

i knocked on the wall gently, and the crying stopped, "h-hello?" i muttered, my voice coming across shaky and not confident at all.

"sorry" a girls voice answered, she sniffed. "no, uh, you didn't do anything wrong, the walls are really thin" i replied.

your pov

you got a text from your boyfriend about an hour ago, and you had just been reading it over and over again, the words engraved into your brain.

"we're over, you weren't enough".

yes that text hurt, and you had been sobbing for the past couple hours, your heart absolutely shattered.

you heard someone knock on the wall and you froze, "h-hello?" you heard a males voice come from the other side of the wall.

"sorry" i replied, not sure what to even say, "no uh, you didn't do anything wrong, the walls are really thin" the male said again.

"it sounded like you were crying" he said again, my ear pressed to the wall, "y-yeah sorry about that" you replied, mentally yelling at yourself, everytime you cried at this apartment was it that loud?

the boy didn't reply and you closed your eyes, hoping you could just fall asleep and forget about everything.

you heard movement next door but ignored it and kept your eyes squeezed shut. within seconds there was a knock on your door.

you groaned and stood up, looking at your reflection in the mirror, yep, just as expected, once what was perfect winged eyeliner and mascara was now black smudges down your face.

it was fine, you muttered to yourself and walked to the door. you opened the apartment door and was met face to face with a very cute boy, and now you were mentally cursing yourself for looking like shit.

"h-hi" you stuttered, looking into the boys pretty, pretty brown eyes. "i'm the guy from next door, we talked for a lil bit" he mumbled, looking back at you.

"oh, right. sorry" you sighed, just wanting to curl up in bed and die. "don't worry about it, just wanted to make sure you're okay" he stuttered, looking down at the floor.

he was really nice and cute, why not shoot my shot now, you though to yourself. "hey, it's 4 in the morning, but do you wanna come in for a drink?" you said softly.

"4am? what a great time to drink, let's do it" he chuckled, and he's funny too, how more perfect could he get?

you smiled at him and pushed open your door wider, letting him in, maybe tonight wouldn't be too bad after all..
